Day 1

Tarangire National Park

Tarangire National Park

We'll pick you up from your Arusha hotel and embark on a two-hour drive to Tarangire National Park. Witness the landscape transform from Arusha's urban surroundings to vast plains and charming Maasai villages along the way.

Once inside the park, you'll marvel at the Tarangire River's banks adorned with acacia and baobab trees, where wildlife roams freely throughout the day. In the dry season, the park becomes a haven for thousands of animals migrating from the Maasai steppe in search of water, offering sightings of numerous species in a short span of time. Among the park's highlights are endangered species like the greater kudu, fringe-eared oryx, and ashy starling.

Savor a picnic lunch at one of the park's scenic picnic areas, but be wary of the mischievous local monkey population eyeing your food!

As the afternoon wanes, we'll journey back to Arusha.

Materuni Village & Waterfalls Hike

After pick-up by our driver, you head to Materuni village and the waterfalls. Follow the tropical trails under the banana canopy while listening to some thrilling, legendary stories about villagers living on the foothills of Mount Kilimanjaro. Enjoy the forest’s flora and fauna - rich birdlife, beautiful butterflies, and a number of medicinal plants. You will see spectacular views of Mount Meru and Mount Kilimanjaro on the way to the waterfalls.

Upon arrival at the magnificent waterfalls, take beautiful pictures and start descending back to the village. Eat a locally-prepared lunch and learn about some of the local history and traditions. Enjoy seeing the coffee plantations of the local Chagga community where the villagers will demonstrate some of the processes involved in coffee farming and handling.
