After breakfast, you will transfer to the Kilimanjaro Park Gate at Machame. You will begin the first section of your climb through the mountain forest. You will walk five to seven hours before you reach the Machame campsite at 10000ft/3000m. Your meals and overnight stay will be at the camp.

Machame camp to shira Camp
At 7:00 a.m., following breakfast, you'll depart from the camp and ascend along a steep ridge, traversing through heath and moorland terrain towards Picnic Rock and the Shira Plateau. Renowned for its breathtaking scenery, the hike to Shira Camp 2 offers panoramic views of the mountain. Beginning in the tropical rainforest, the trail swiftly transitions into a shrubland setting, often referred to as moorland or low-alpine landscape. Expect the walk to the Shira Campsite (12,500ft/3,800m) to take approximately five to seven hours. Your dinner and overnight accommodations will be provided at the camp.
Shira Camp to Baranco Camp
While the elevation remains relatively constant throughout the day, this stage is crucial for acclimatization. Departing from Shira Plateau, we proceed eastward along a ridge, passing the junction towards Kibo peak. Continuing southeast, we reach the Lava Tower, often referred to as the “Shark’s Tooth” (elevation: 4650m/15,250ft). Following the tower, we encounter a second junction, leading to the Arrow Glacier. From there, we descend to Barranco Camp for our overnight stay, with meals provided (B, L, D).

Barranco Camp to Karanga Camp
This day is dedicated to acclimatization: following a night at Baranco Great Wall, you'll embark on a trek lasting around 4 hours, descending to Heim Glacier en route to the picturesque Karanga Valley. Along the way, you'll be treated to summit views from various perspectives. Dinner and overnight accommodations await you at Karanga Valley Camp (4,200m), with meals provided (B, L, D).

Karanga Camp to Barafu camp

Continuing our ascent towards Barafu Camp, you will have now traversed the South Circuit, providing diverse and awe-inspiring views of the summit from various perspectives. Upon arrival, an early dinner will be served as we prepare for summit night. Overnight stay at Barafu Camp with meals provided (B, L, D).
Barafu Camp to Uhuru Peak
Following breakfast, we embark on the descent towards the Mweka Park Gate to retrieve your summit certificates. As we descend to lower elevations, anticipate encountering wet and muddy conditions, making gaiters and trekking poles essential. Dressing in shorts and t-shirts should suffice, but it's wise to keep rain gear and warmer clothing handy.
Our Kiliclimb Africa Safaris vehicle will be awaiting you at the Mweka gate for your journey back to your hotel in Arusha, which is approximately a 2-hour drive away.

Mweka Camp to Mweka Gate to Arusha
Descending to Mweka Gate (1,980m) takes approximately 3 to 4 hours. Here, those who reached Uhuru Peak are awarded Golden certificates, while those who reached Gilman’s Point receive Green Certificates. Afterwards, you will be transported back to Arusha town and spend the night at Tulia Hotel.
