Tarangire National Park to Ngorongoro Crater
After breakfast in the morning at Nsya Lodge, you will drive for 40 minutes to Ngorongoro Conservation Area. Ngorongoro is a special place in that it is a Conservation Area, not a national park. This means it is a multiple land use that is shared between wildlife and domestic life. During the drive to Ngorongoro, you will have a chance to glimpse something of the Masai way of life. At the entrance gate, there is a chance to learn more about this fascinating volcanic landscape, you will continue to drive around the rim of the Crater itself to reach the viewpoint. From here, you can look down and see the herd of wildebeest or buffalos. Finally, you will descend 600m of altitude from the rim. The crater walls provide a natural sanctuary for the animals, which means there is plenty to see including rhino which is one of the endangered species, lions, elephants, buffalo, and leopards (if you are lucky). In the evening, you will make a short journey from the crater to Nsya Lodge.
