Day 1

Arusha to Mariakamba Hut

Duration: 5-7 hours of hiking

After an early breakfast in Arusha (altitude: 1400m), you'll be transported to Momella Gate in Arusha National Park. Porters will organize your gear while you complete registration. The hike begins promptly afterward.

The first day offers a scenic walking safari, with chances to spot various wildlife. An armed ranger ensures safety. Passing by Ngarenanyuki River and a stunning waterfall, you'll reach Miriakamba Hut (altitude: 2500m). Enjoy a hot dinner and sunset views before settling in for the night.

Day 2

Duration: 3-5 hours of hiking

Following breakfast, you'll commence your ascent along the steep trail atop the ridge of the saddle. Keep an eye out for various wildlife sightings along the way! Enjoy panoramic views of Mount Meru Crater and the Ash Tray along the trail. Upon reaching camp, you'll have the option to hike Little Mount Meru (altitude: 3820m) with your guide for additional acclimatization. An early dinner will be served to ensure you get ample rest before your midnight summit attempt. Aim to be asleep by 7:00 pm for optimal preparation.

Day 3

Saddle Hut to Summit to Arusha

Saddle Hut to Summit to Arusha

Duration: 12-14 hours of hiking

Your guide will wake you up at 12:30 am to enjoy tea and biscuits before embarking on your summit attempt at 1:30 am. The trail begins with a steep ascent from Rhino Point (altitude: 3800m) to Cobra Point (altitude: 4350m). In the final hour of the hike, you'll navigate a rocky ridge between the crater and the inner cliffs of Meru. At sunrise, you'll reach the summit of Meru (altitude: 4565m), treated to breathtaking views of Mount Meru Ash Tray and Mount Kilimanjaro. Take in the scenery before descending to Momella Gate and returning to Arusha.
