Day 1

Nyakalengijo - Nyabitaba

Nyakalengijo - Nyabitaba

Begin your day by visiting our head office to check on your hiking equipment and arrange for guides, chefs, and porters.

The trek begins at the park gate, located at 1,646 meters. From there, you will ascend 1,200 meters over a distance of seven km, which typically takes 4-5 hours. The trail starts by passing through local homes and fields, before progressing through dense bamboo and high elephant grass. As you climb over the bluffs, you will cross the Mahoma River before making a steep ascent to Nyabitaba. Along the way, you may encounter wildlife such as white and black colobus monkeys, the three-horned chameleon, and the Rwenzori turaco bird.

You will spend the night at Nyabitaba Camp.

Day 2

Nyabitaba Camp - Guyeoman Camp

From Nyabitaba Camp, the trail leads you to the junction where the clockwise and anticlockwise routes meet. The clockwise path takes you through the bamboo forest, leading to Kichuchu Bridge. After crossing the bridge, the trail veers left, passing through the Heather/Rupenia zone, before reaching Kichuchu Rock. From there, the trail ascends steeply to Guyeoman Camp, where you'll enjoy dinner and your overnight stay.

Day 3

Guyeoman Camp - Kitanda Camp

Guyeoman Camp - Kitanda Camp

From Guyeoman Camp, the trail takes you to the Bujongolo Rock Shelter, a historical site that served as a shelter for the Duke of Abruzzi in 1906.

After visiting the rock shelter, the trail ascends gradually, eventually reaching Fresh Field Pass. From there, you'll descend to Kitandara Camp for dinner and your overnight stay.

Day 4

Kitandara Lakes Camp - Weisman's Peak

The trail today takes you through the Afro-Alpine zone, where you may spot wildlife such as the Rwenzori red mountain duiker and rock hyraxes.

Continuing on, the trail leads to the summit of Weismann's Peak at 4,843 meters. After reaching the peak, you will return to Kitandara Lakes Camp for dinner and your overnight stay.

Day 5

After breakfast, your guides will lead you back to Guyeoman Camp along the same trail you used on the ascent. Lunch will be served during the journey. Upon arrival at Guyeoman Camp, you will have time to prepare for dinner, which will be served at the scheduled time, followed by your overnight stay.

Day 6

Guyeoman Camp - Nyabitaba

Below Guyeoman, the route descends the cliffs of Kichuchu. Beyond Kichuchu, the muddy path crosses the Mubuku River twice, passing through a bamboo forest before descending towards Nyabitaba. You will complete the circuit by at the Nyabitaba Camp, and then continue down to the park gate, marking the end of your six-day trek.
