Day 1

We will pick you up from your hotel in Entebbe at 6:30 am, and drive to the Nakiwogo landing site where you will take a motorized boat to the wetlands. The boat transfer takes about 35 minutes on the lake. When you get into the wetlands, you'll change onto the small boat which is convenient for maneuvering into the wetlands. After the shoebill has been sighted, you will approach the location with caution and maintain minimum silence as you observe the shoebill hunt.

Shoebill primarily feeds on fish and other aquatic animals. One of the most impressive traits of the shoebill is its hunting technique where it can stay motionless for hours, when it has locked onto prey, it uses its massive shoe-like bill to stealthily strike at prey with its sharp curved bill, helping it to grip and hold onto its prey before it's swallowed as whole in just a matter of seconds. Later, you'll transfer back to the lodge.
