Northern Serengeti National Park
After an early breakfast, we will have a game drive in the northern Serengeti. This area offers a chance to escape the crowds as it is relatively remote and sees fewer visitors compared to the Central Serengeti and Kenya’s Masai Mara National Reserve. Travelers who make it to this corner of the Serengeti will be rewarded with gorgeous landscapes. The 800km (500mi) trek of the immense wildebeest herd is the largest mammal migration on earth. The migration timing coincides with the greening of nutritious grasses on the short-grass plains during the Wet season, making these areas safer for calving as predators can be easily spotted. However, as the plains dry up, the wildebeest are forced to move in search of greener pastures in the western corridor. The northern extension of the ecosystem has the highest rainfall, but the grasses are less nutritious.
