Day 1

Chimwenya Game Park

Welcome to Malawi! On your arrival at Chileka International Airport, a Crafted Africa driver/guide will welcome you. After collecting your luggage, he will transfer you to Game Haven Lodge at Bvumbwe in Thyolo district. You will spend the first night of your tour here.

Game Haven Lodge is situated at Chimwenya Private Game Park, Bvumbwe, and just 25km from Blantyre – Malawi’s commercial capital. The lodge is beautifully designed and has been built with the golden rock found on the estate itself. The main area looks out onto beautifully manicured lawns where you will often see the local residents enjoying a morning or afternoon graze. You will enjoy different activities such as cycling, 1 game drive per day, visit to Mwana Park.

Day 2-4

Mulanje Mountain Hike

Mulanje Mountain, known to the locals as ‘the island in the sky’, is the highest mountain in southern-central Africa, and Sapitwa, its highest peak, overlooks the clouds from 10,000 ft and boasts unparalleled views of southern Malawi, it is well worth a visit.

Spend a minimum of 3 nights and 4 days traversing up this unique and unspoiled mountain range with a fantastic team to guide you every step of the way ensuring you are safe, well-fed and watered, well-informed and most importantly – enjoying life! Embark on an adventure of a lifetime, and enjoy the experience of climbing through tunnels, around large boulders and under curving trees and witness the most soul-nourishing and awe-inspiring views across Southern Malawi as the sun sets on another unforgettable day.

Day 5-6

Zomba Plateau

Zomba Forest Lodge is a colonial cottage nestled into Zomba Mountain. If you want intimacy and a cosy relaxed atmosphere, then here is the perfect destination for you. You are treated like family and friends when staying at the lodge, you are, after all, in the home of the owners. Enjoy time to yourself in the gardens and listen to the sounds of the forest around you, or head up through the mountain on a hike and enjoy sightings of birds, Samango (Blue) monkeys and the gorgeous forest all around you.

While here, you will have guided walks on the Zomba Plateau.

Day 7-8

Liwonde National Park Adventure

Liwonde National Park, founded in 1973, is 550km2 it is one of the most beautiful parks in the country and one of the far less travelled in Africa! The park is situated 160km north of Blantyre on the left bank of the Shire River, south of Lake Malawi.

Liwonde National Park offers one of the densest concentrations of wildlife in Africa! You will have the opportunity to spot a lot of elephants as the park hosts around 900! The elephant population has grown so much in the past years that it has become hard for them to survive, this is why some of them have been transported to Nkhotakota Wildlife Reserve for what was “the biggest elephant translocation in Malawi”. You are set to enjoy delicious meals and spectacular game viewing activities (morning and evening) for the next two nights of your tour here.

Activities include game drives morning and evening game drives and boat safaris (2 activities per day).

Lake Malawi National Park was the very first freshwater national park declared as a UNESCO World Heritage site in 1984. This status protects the diversity of endemic fish as well as the aquatic habitat. Although the Lake covers one-third of the country, the National Park is only 94km2 including a land area around the cape, some islands, and of course, the lake up to 100 meters offshore. Lake Malawi National Park is located in the South of the lake near Cape Maclear.

Enjoy fantastic water sport activities such as kayaking, snorkeling, paddle boarding and swimming in the crystal clear waters of Lake Malawi.
