WE will pick you up from Your Hotel in Arusha and drive Just beyond Mto wa Mbu, the asphalted road gives way to a thrilling journey along the East African Rift Valley's rugged slopes. Passing Maasai villages and the sacred Ol Doinyo Lengai mountain, you'll soon reach the Maasai village of Ngare Sero, nestled near Lake Natron. This stunning lake, fed by its outlet, hosts a diverse array of birdlife, including approximately 2.5 million dwarf flamingos who call it their breeding ground. The saline waters teem with unicellular algae and bacteria, lending the lake its striking red-brown to purple-violet hues. Surrounding Lake Natron lies one of Africa's most pristine and captivating landscapes. Take a walk to the lake's shores and then venture to nearby waterfalls, a refreshing oasis offering the perfect opportunity for a swim in its crystal-clear waters.

Lake natron to central Serengeti via Lobo
Next on your itinerary are the endless plains of the Serengeti, where the magic of your journey continues. This vast ecosystem lies at the heart of an unparalleled animal kingdom, unique in the world. Each year, the great migration sees over 1.4 million wildebeest, nearly 300,000 Thomson's gazelles, around 200,000 zebras, and thousands of topis moving to greener pastures during the rainy seasons. With approximately 3 million large mammals, the Serengeti boasts the richest wildlife population of any national park globally. Two-thirds of these are comprised of the aforementioned species, alongside a myriad of others including giraffes, buffalo, hyenas, elephants, and crocodiles. The Serengeti is also home to a significant population of apex predators, including around 3,000 lions, over 300 cheetahs, and an estimated 400-700 leopards, making it a haven for wildlife enthusiasts and photographers alike.

Central serengeti to Ngorongoro crater
Today, you'll embark on a descent of over 600 meters into the Ngorongoro Crater for a half-day safari tour. Sustained by a year-round water supply and abundant fodder, the crater is home to a rich array of wildlife, including herds of wildebeest, zebra, buffalo, eland, warthog, hippopotamus, and majestic African elephants. The park's allure is further heightened by its dense population of predators, such as lions, hyenas, jackals, cheetahs, and the elusive leopard, requiring a keen eye to spot. Our journey includes a visit to Lake Magadi, a vast shallow alkaline lake nestled in the southwest corner of the crater, boasting a plethora of flamingos, hippos, and other aquatic birds. Following lunch, we'll begin our ascent from the crater and return to the lodge for an overnight stay at omega view lodge in karatu.

Karatu-Tarangire to Arusha
Majestic baobab trees, sprawling bush savannah, and ever-changing seasonal marshlands contribute to the allure of this natural sanctuary. Tarangire National Park is renowned for its exceptional opportunities to observe elephants up close, making it a premier destination for wildlife enthusiasts. In addition to elephants, the park is teeming with buffaloes, zebras, and wildebeests, all of which attract a host of predators, including lions. While leopards make sporadic appearances, cheetah sightings are rare. As you traverse the park in an open-roof safari vehicle, you'll have the chance to immerse yourself in the breathtaking landscape and observe the fascinating array of wildlife. Following the game drive, our journey concludes as we head back to Arusha/JRO.
