Today's trip will take us from Buganda to Tooro kingdom to Crater Lakes region near Fort Portal, seeing variety of landscape, including picturesque tea plantations at the end. About 6 hours' drive, with an optional stop in Queen Elizabeth National Park and at the Equator depending on the route.

Day 3-8

Rwenzori Mountain Trek

Rwenzori Mountain Trek

Trekking Rwenzoris take 6-7 days, which lead from the Nyakalengija base (1,615 m asl) on the way up which requires overnights in Nyabitaba (2,651 m asl), John Matte (3,505 m asl), and Icy Elena Hut (4,541 m asl), before summiting Margarita Peak (5,109 m asl). The trek passes through spectacular and diverse mountain ecosystems of thick forests, bamboo forest, bogs, high altitude mountain vegetation. We cross mountain streams, and the last ascent day takes you over three glaciers. Additional day is possible at Bujuku (3,962 m asl) for acclimatization. The descent leads through another valley descending via Kitandara (4,430 m asl) and Guy Yeoman (3,261 m asl) camps. At lower elevations in tropical forest, you may hear chimpanzee and see black and white colobus, blue monkey and the brilliantly colored Rwenzori turaco.

Drive through the Western Uganda (Tooro, Bunyoro) goes on the edge of the Albertine Rift intercepted with some forest areas, and a stop in Budongo, the largest forest reserve in Uganda, to see the chimpanzees (2 hour activity) in the early afternoon. We arrive at our private bushcamp in the northern part of Murchison Falls to begin our wildlife safari. Murchison Falls is Uganda's largest park - plenty to explore here. We stay in our private camp with no other tourists around, with an opportunity to explore the area on foot.

Day 10

Wildlife safari in Murchison Falls

We go on an early morning walk exploring the Nyamsika area (2.5-4 hours) with plentiful wildlife and stunning scenery with dry riverbed snaking through the savannah, Borassus, and acacia woodlands. After midday rest, we continue exploring the vast plains around the Nile delta with bounty of wildlife. We return to Nyamsika to enjoy beautiful sunset and views with a sundowner.

After another walk in the morning, we embark on an exciting boat ride to the bottom of the falls while seeing plenty of elephants, giraffes, crocs, hippos and other animals and the shores. Then it is time for a brisk 45 min walk through the river jungle to the top of these powerful falls. After lunch break, we return to our 2nd private camp at Pendero or Tangi for rest. Evening option for a shorter walk or a game drive depending on your desire.

After a breakfast overlooking Nyamsika valley, we return to Kampala with a stop at Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary to see the white rhinos from the close on foot. We arrive to Kampala afternoon and relax or visit Lake Victoria and enjoy the view of the city from some stunning viewpoints.
