Day 1

Nairobi National Park

Nairobi National Park

After an early morning breakfast at 5:00 am, you'll depart at 5:30 am for the Nairobi National Park. At 10:30 am, you'll enjoy a visit to the elephant orphanage (David Sheldrick trust fund).

The Nairobi National Park is one of the most successful of Kenya's rhino sanctuaries that is already generating a stock for reintroduction in the species' former range. Due to this success, it is one of the few parks where a visitor can be certain of seeing a black rhino in its natural habitat. To the south of the park is the Athi-Kapiti Plains and Kitengela Migration Corridor. Around July/August, the park boasts the largest wildebeest and zebra migration second only to that of the Serengeti-Mara ecosystem. 4 of the Big Five —lions, leopards, and buffalos can be found, as well as one of the largest populations of cheetahs.

After breakfast in the hotel a visit to the giraffe center and the Karen Blixen Museum. Shopping at Utamaduni and thereafter lunch at a local restaurant (pay directly). A visit to the Bomas of Kenya.

Karen Blixen, Giraffe Centre, and Utamaduni: Truly a must for all 'Out of Africa' fans, this visit includes a visit to the Karen Blixen Museum, the former home of the authoress of the book Out of Africa, where you'll immerse yourself in her romantic life history, and learn some little-known facts about her life in Kenya. The beautiful gardens boast a spectacular view of the Ngong Hills, where Denis Finch-Hatton, Karen’s lover who died in a tragic airplane accident in Tsavo, lies buried. The nearby Giraffe Centre is a sanctuary for the rare and protected Rothschild giraffes, one of the 3 races of giraffes found in Kenya. One may touch, and feed by hand the beautiful creatures that live in the private reserve of the Giraffe Manor. The tour ends with some shopping at Utamaduni Craft Shop.
