Start your journey with the National Museum of Ethiopia, a top exhibit quality and range museum. The 3.5 million-year-old fossil of Australopithecus afarensis hominoid Lucy (Dinkinesh, 'wonderful in the local dialect) is on exhibit. Rethinking our genealogy after Lucy's fossil was found in 1974 showed that our ancestors walked 2.5 million years earlier than assumed. The National Museum features several exquisite pre-Axumite artifacts. Next, visit St. George's Cathedral. Northern Churchill Road ends at the Cathedral. The cathedral, erected in 1896 in the usual octagonal shape to honor Ethiopia's victory over the Italians in the Battle of Adwa, has Afewerk Tekle's stained-glass windows from the Africa Hall. Drive to Entoto. Stop to Shiromeda Market, one of the major Ethiopian traditional clothes markets, on the way. Continue up Mount Entoto to witness its stunning panoramic view of the city. Final stop. Stop at Tomoka Coffee! It serves the city's best coffee.
