Namib Naukluft Park
After an early wake-up, you can climb the iconic sand dunes at sunrise. Dead Valley Lodge is one of the few lodges inside the Namib-Naukluft National Park, so you can access the dunes before and after most other guests staying outside the park are allowed. You can do this self-guided or book a guided trip directly with the lodge. However, it is ideal to book with us to avoid the inconvenience.
Other extra activities you can enjoy include a nature drive to search for desert-adapted wildlife, a dune walk, or even soaring above this breathtaking landscape in a hot-air balloon, all of which are optional and cost extra.
In the evening, you can enjoy a gin and tonic on a sundowner tour, and after dark, you'll enjoy the spectacular night sky in a region with very little light pollution.

Swakopmund to Damaraland
Continuing your safari today, the road takes you north and east into the wonderful and diverse region of Damaraland. You pass Namibia’s highest mountain, the Brandberg, which peaks at 2,573m above sea level, and take time to view the game and absorb the vastness of the scenery along the way. Damaraland is typified by displays of color, magnificent table-topped mountains, rock formations and bizarre-looking vegetation. The present-day landscape has been formed by the erosion of wind, water and geological forces, which have formed rolling hills, dunes, gravel plains and ancient river terraces. It is the variety and loneliness of the area as well as the scenic splendor that will reward and astound you, giving you an authentic understanding of the word "wilderness".
If time allows, this afternoon, you will visit the nearby attractions and geological sites of the prehistoric Twyfelfontein rock engravings (a UNESCO World Heritage Site); if not, there is plenty of time to see them tomorrow.

Damaraland
After an early breakfast, you will drive out on an exciting 4x4 excursion along the ephemeral Aba Huab and Huab River valleys to explore this remarkable region. You will search for game, including the elusive desert-adapted elephants, if they are in the area. Damaraland is home to a variety of desert-adapted wildlife and hidden desert treasures. The elephants are mostly active in the mornings, so you will normally have the best chance to see them before returning to camp for lunch.
Your local lodge guide will arrange a visit to the Twyfelfontein rock engravings and other nearby attractions at a suitable time if you haven’t already done so the previous day.

Damaraland to Southern Etosha National Park
After breakfast, you’ll drive towards Etosha National Park. You'll arrive early afternoon and you can have a short game-viewing drive with the lodge. However, you will leave the park before sunset since the gates close before sunset. This applies to all the visitors, whether you stay inside the park or not.
Etosha offers fantastic wildlife-viewing opportunities, particularly around the waterholes. You can expect to see elephants, giraffes, lions, leopards, zebras, springboks, and gemsboks. It’s also one of the best places in Southern Africa to see the endangered cheetah, black rhino, and rare antelope species such as the black-faced impala, Damara dik-dik, and the roan antelope.
We offer a choice of superb lodges, both inside the park and on its borders. Included in this trip is Etosha Oberland Lodge, which is a great selection at the border of the park.

Etosha National Park
Today, you will spend a full day exploring the variety of game at Etosha National Park. All the gates open upon sunrise. If you are lucky, you will catch predators hunting their prey.
Despite being one of Africa's largest national parks, Etosha is easy to drive around yourself as all roads lead back to the main road. This means you can take your time visiting the many different waterholes where large concentrations of wildlife tend to congregate.
You can also choose to embark on a guided safari with the lodge in Etosha National Park, which is available at an extra cost.
Almost a quarter of Etosha consists of salt pans, including the Etosha Pan, which is undoubtedly the park’s most distinctive and dramatic feature. The Etosha Pan is the only known mass breeding ground for flamingos in Namibia, and at times, up to a million flamingos can be found here.
