Serengeti, the world's most renowned wildlife sanctuary, is celebrated for its natural beauty and immense scientific value. The park is famed for the Great Migration where over a million wildebeest and around 200,000 zebras migrate south for the short rains in October and November, and then west and north after the long rains in April, May, and June. This ancient journey, driven by instinct, overcomes all obstacles, including droughts and crocodile-infested rivers. Witnessing this migration is a once-in-a-lifetime experience.

The crater's unique ecosystem supports a remarkable variety of animals. You are guaranteed incredible wildlife sightings, including the endangered black rhinos, large prides of lions, herds of wildebeests, zebras, elephants, buffaloes, and hippos. While the popularity of the Ngorongoro Crater means you may encounter other safari vehicles, the extraordinary wildlife viewing in this awe-inspiring setting more than compensates for it.

The park is bordered by the dramatic western escarpment of the Rift Valley and the shallow, alkaline Lake Manyara. The lake attracts thousands of flamingos during the rainy season, creating a spectacular sight.
The name Manyara comes from the Maasai word for a plant used to build protective enclosures around family homesteads (bomas). The park's vegetation is diverse, ranging from savannah to evergreen forest, providing a varied habitat for wildlife. During your exploration, you may encounter giraffes, zebras, wildebeests, buffalos, elephants, and with some luck, the famous tree-climbing lions.
