Day 1

Nairobi - Masai Mara National Reserve

Nairobi - Masai Mara National Reserve

After breakfast, you will be picked up by our driver guide. After a full safari briefing, you will depart Nairobi and head southward to Masai Mara National Reserve. You will have an afternoon game drive in the reserve.

Enjoy an exploratory drive around the 1,792 sq. km game park with its low hills and savannah-type rolling grasslands, gallery forest on the Mara River, and tributaries. Get introduced to the herbivores such as elephant, rhino, buffalo, various antelopes, Maasai giraffe and Burchell's zebra. The carnivores are the black-maned lion, cheetah and leopard. Also to be seen are the largest bird, the Maasai ostrich, the secretary bird, the crested crane and the saddle-billed stork. Crocodiles and hippos share the river. Return to your camp by sunset for dinner and an overnight stay.

Have breakfast at the camp and then enjoy morning and afternoon game drives.

Masai Mara is an extension of the Serengeti ecosystem to the south - game abounds here. The Mara is noted for its abundance of lions, particularly the superb black-maned males. See the great migration where over 1.5 million wildebeest and other antelopes cross the mighty Mara River. Experience the battle between survival and hunger. You are also likely to see many elephants here, often in large herds, and leopard, cheetah and rhino, if you're lucky. All of the Big Five are residents. You’re sure to see the African buffalo. Get the cameras ready, stock up on film or tapes and enjoy yourselves!

Day 3

After breakfast, you will check out and drive towards Lake Nakuru, with lunch on the way. You will arrive at your accommodation in the afternoon for dinner and overnight.

Note: On this day, you can opt to stop at Lake Naivasha for a boat ride, which costs $25 per person.

After breakfast, proceed on a game drive in Lake Nakuru Park, known for its prolific birdlife, including flamingoes. The park contains a sanctuary for the conservation of the white rhino, while species like Cape buffalo and waterbuck can be seen near the shoreline. Later, proceed to Amboseli for dinner and overnight at Nyati Camp or similar accommodation.

Enjoy a full-day exploration of the park. After breakfast, depart for the morning game drive. You will be transferred to your lodge for lunch at leisure. Embark for an afternoon game drive. Later, you will return to the lodge for dinner. You will see the peak of Mt Kilimanjaro, the Big Five and more than 400 bird species.

Have an early morning game drive in Amboseli and return to your lodge for breakfast. After breakfast, depart for the Tanzania border with picnic lunch boxes and enter Tanzania through Namanga. After you are done with immigration, exchange vehicles and proceed to Arusha, arriving around 4:00 p.m. for overnight rest at The Charity Hotel.

Day 7

Tarangire National Park

After breakfast, set off on a safari with your guide and driver to Tarangire National Park (approximately 120km). Named for the river that nourishes the wildlife of a vast ecosystem, Tarangire is home to elephant, zebra, wildebeest, gazelle, buffalo, eland, waterbuck, lion, giraffe, oryx and an unsurpassed diversity of birds. From June to November, masses of wildlife congregate around the river, but the park is a stronghold for big game year-round. Take your first game drive before retiring to your accommodation, where you will have dinner and an overnight stay.

The legendary Serengeti plains is your destination today, a vast rolling plain whose sparse vegetation allows for some of the best wildlife viewing in the world. The annual migration of wildebeest and zebra is one of the park’s great attractions. Still, throughout the year, the Serengeti is excellent for seeing predators such as lion, leopard and cheetah, along with elephant, giraffe, hyena, hippo, rhino, and many varieties of antelopes and birds. You will enjoy a picnic lunch as you drive to Serengeti. The evening is free to rest.

Today, we enjoy morning and afternoon game-viewing drives on the vast Serengeti plains. In the early morning and evening light, the Serengeti landscape is stunningly beautiful. The Serengeti ecosystem supports the greatest remaining concentration of plains game in Africa, including more than three million large mammals. This park will never disappoint. One is spoiled by the variety of bird and wildlife species in this game reserve. Depending on wildlife movement at different times, we may serve picnic lunch at a picnic site.

This morning, descend into the crater for an in-depth exploration of this distinctive ecosystem. Enjoy abundant wildlife viewing set against the impressive backdrop of the Ngorongoro Crater, the heart of the conservation area. These drives provide one of the best opportunities in Africa to view the rare black rhino, which tends to spend its time on the crater floor.

Ngorongoro is one of the world’s greatest natural spectacles; its magical setting and abundant wildlife never fail to enthrall visitors. For lunch, enjoy a picnic next to the hippo pools on the crater floor. Continue with the game drive throughout the various ecosystems of the crater, including woodland filled with zebra and baboon, plains that support scavenging hyena and a lake that is tinted pink with greater and lesser flamingos. Other game you can see include leopard, cheetah, other members of the antelope family, and small mammals.

In the afternoon, drive back to Arusha for an overnight at the Charity Hotel.

After breakfast, a shuttle bus service will pick you up from Charity, and you will drive back to Nairobi. Arrive in Nairobi in the afternoon. We can drop you off at the airport directly or at your accommodation in Nairobi. End of our service!

Note: You do not have to drive back to Nairobi. You can also choose to fly out from Kilimanjaro Airport or add an extension to Zanzibar beach.
