Lake Mburo National Park
Our six-day safari begins with a briefing from your Gorilla Safaris Uganda driver-guide over breakfast. Afterward, we head to southwestern Uganda, with a stop at a local community known for crafting drums and souvenirs, along with a vibrant fruit market. Take a moment to admire the craftsmanship and pick up a souvenir before continuing the journey. On the way, we'll stop at the equator line, one of Africa's iconic landmarks, where you can take photographs and marvel at the scenery.
In the early afternoon, we'll arrive at Lake Mburo National Park for lunch in the park's grounds. After lunch, enjoy your first game drive, where you'll encounter species like impalas, jackals, buffalo, elands, leopards, topis, hyenas, and zebras. The park's five lakes attract crocodiles, hippos, and a variety of water birds, while the swamps hide papyrus specialists like the sitatunga antelope and the colorful papyrus gonolek.

After breakfast, you’ll participate in a morning briefing before embarking on the highlight of the trip — gorilla trekking. You'll trek through the rain forest and bamboo-covered slopes, accompanied by a guide and trackers, in search of a mountain gorilla family. The hike can be tough and long, but the moment you catch sight of a magnificent silverback, any discomfort will quickly be forgotten. When you encounter the gorillas, you'll be guided to within six meters of their presence and have the privilege of sitting quietly around them for an entire hour.
Gorilla trekking is unpredictable. The experience can take anywhere from two to eight hours, and the journey may involve walking long distances in steep, muddy conditions, sometimes with rain overhead. Being in good physical condition is recommended.
In the evening, you’ll enjoy a cultural visit to the Batwa community before returning to the lodge for dinner and your overnight stay.
