Your guide will rendezvous with you at your accommodation following breakfast. From there, you'll embark on a scenic journey to Tarangire National Park, a drive spanning approximately two and a half hours on well-maintained tarmac roads. Named after the Tarangire River, often dubbed the 'river of warthogs', this park relies solely on its waters during the dry season, making it a crucial lifeline for the resident wildlife. Tarangire is renowned for its majestic elephant herds, frequently spotted congregating along the riverbanks. Following breakfast, your journey will lead you towards the cooler realms of the Ngorongoro Conservation Area. As you approach the Ngorongoro Crater, a scene reminiscent of a forgotten world unfolds before you. Encircled by steep volcanic walls, this natural wonderland encompasses vast savannahs, patches of acacia woodland, and shimmering lakes and swamps. The Crater, formed by a colossal volcanic eruption and subsequent collapse some two to three million years ago, spans an impressive 260 square kilometers.
Upon descending into the Crater, you'll be greeted by a spectacle of wildebeest, zebras, gazelles, and over 500 bird species. This pristine habitat offers an unparalleled opportunity to encounter the endangered black rhino. A delightful lunch awaits you at a scenic picnic site nestled on the Crater Floor.
