After breakfast, head to Lake Manyara National Park, a small yet diverse park located 120km west of Arusha. Here, everything is on a unique scale, with the park being both compact (among the narrowest in Africa) and majestic (with the towering Great Rift Escarpment overlooking Lake Manyara). The park's namesake, a shallow salt lake, dominates its landscape and fluctuates with the seasons, serving as a habitat for thousands of wading birds, including flamingos and over 500 other bird species. Keep your eyes peeled for sightings of baboons and elephants amidst the park's thick evergreen forest, and be on the lookout for the famous tree-climbing lions of Africa.
