Welcome to Botswana!
You will arrive at Maun Airport. You'll be met by our local representative who will direct you to the transfer area. The road transfer is scheduled at 2:00 pm. The lodge is about 1.5 hours away. Meno a Kwena sits in an awesome location on the Boteti River, overlooking the Makgadikgadi Pans National Park. It is a completely contrasting location, wildlife, and habitat to the green Okavango Delta regions that you will discover next on your safari.
The zebra migration is resident here for much of the year.
In the dry season, there is no other water around and the Boteti River becomes a magnet for wildlife.
You'll arrive at the lodge, freshen up before the first game drive, and return to camp for dinner and an overnight stay.

Game Drives and Cultural Discovery
Meno a Kwena is open all year round, and almost every month heralds a different highlight. During the dry season, from April to October, the Boteti River is the only source of water, and hundreds of animals assemble on the banks, making for truly remarkable wildlife viewing —and you don’t even have to leave camp! April is the culmination of Africa’s second-largest mammal migration, and the wildebeest and zebras join the resident wildlife at the river in their masses.
In the Makgadikgadi, the lunar-like salt flats glint in the sunlight, and a haze shimmers above the ground.
This is the desert in its most iconic state and a jaw-droppingly magical sight.
Your guide will schedule the daily activities, including game drives complete with bush picnics and chilled drinks. You'll enjoy cultural safaris and walks with the ancient bushmen. You'll cruise along the Boteti River by boat (water levels permitting) and view the wildlife at the river at eye-level from the floating game-viewing hide.

Helicopter Flight to the Okavango Delta
After breakfast, you'll pack up and take the 10:00 am road transfer back to Maun, on time for the helicopter transfer to the Okavango Delta and your next lodge, Mokolwane.
Mokolwane is a special little camp, big on adventure. Being the only camp for miles around, it is a great place to breathe in the stillness and solitude; while exploring the area for the predators, especially leopards. The ecosystem here offers a diverse variety of landscapes, from open grasslands, floodplains, and lagoons to riverine and mopane forests, home to a large number of species.
You'll arrive at the camp, meet with your safari guide, and relax before the afternoon game drive. You'll go back to the camp for dinner and an overnight stay.

Wildlife-Viewing in the Okavango Delta
Mokolwane Camp is open year-round, with each season offering its own type of wildness. The annual floods reach the concession in around April or May, and the water stays in this area until the end of September. The diverse landscape is scattered with herds of elephants and large numbers of predators.
Giraffes and zebras are joined by wildebeest, and all the antelope from kudu, lechwe, bushbuck, tsessebe, to name but a few. As a result, there is a lot of predator action in the concession with a high density of resident leopards competing with strong populations of lions, wild dogs, hyenas, and cheetahs for prey.
This is an exciting concession for bird lovers too. From wattle cranes, Pel’s fishing owl, and martial eagles, to huge flocks of quelea preyed on by falcon, there’s plenty to tick off on the bird list.
Your safari guide will plan the game drives at the best time of the day to view the wildlife, and you can go on a mokoro, depending on the water levels.
