Depart from Dar es Salaam early in the morning with a private van to Mikumi National Park. This will be a 5-hour drive with a stopover for lunch. On arrival, you will be immediately joined for a walking safari.

This relatively small (3230sq km) national park lies 300km west of Dar es Salaam and is the closest park to the capital. It is nestled between the Uruguru Mountains to the east and the Rift Valley escarpments in the Southwest. Although less spectacular regarding flora and fauna, the Mikumi National Park makes for a good impression of the African animal world and is very suitable for a short visit. There is a rich variety of bird species as well as large numbers of giraffes, buffaloes, and elephants, and close to the water holes are also lions, leopards, and hippos. You can also see zebras, lions, wild dogs, pythons, hartebeests, wildebeests, elephants, impalas, warthogs, elands and antelopes.

Today you have a full-day game drive in Mikumi National Park. You will overnight at Amarula lodge on full board. In the morning after breakfast, you will be picked up from Mikumi National Park and driven to a isimilar stone age site. You will have a walking tour for almosty 3 hours at the site. After the historical tour, you will be picked up and driven direct to Ruaha National Park. Your overnight stay will be at Tungamalenga Lodge.

Today you will have a full-day game drive inside Ruaha National Park. The tour will start earlier in the morning and end in the evening. Ruaha is the number one largest national park in Tanzania with a lot of animals to view during the game drives. We will depart with our packed lunch that we will enjoy after a half-day game drive. We will stop somewhere for lunch and then go on with the game drives till evening.
