Mukambi Safari Lodge
Your first full day on safari at Mukambi Safari Lodge.
Game Drives depart at sunrise and return before breakfast. In the afternoon we depart after high tea and return after sunset. On our game drives we may encounter elephants, lion, leopard, cheetah, puku, hippo, wildebeest, zebra, buffalo, waterbuck, hartebeest, roan and sable antelope, and lots of other animals and birds.
Walking safaris leave in the early morning hours after sunrise to avoid the heat of the day.
Boat cruises on the Kafue river can take place at any time of the day but we have a scheduled Sunset Cruise each evening, during which we cruise slowly up the river, giving you the chance to take in the surroundings, have some sundowners and watch the sunset.
Fishing trips by boat are also an option. We supply basic equipment and bait to assist you. If you're successful, we might even enjoy fresh fish for dinner!
If time allows, we can also arrange a visit the local Mukambi Community School in the nearby village.

Fig Tree Bush Camp
After your morning safari activity and breakfast on Day 3, you will leave for Fig Tree Bush Camp, a rustic tented safari camp nestled in one of the most remote parts of Kafue National Park. This intimate camp features four en-suite safari tents, elevated on wooden platforms. Three tents overlook the Shishamba River, while the fourth offers views of the grassy plains and a bustling waterhole.
Each en-suite tent (two double and two twin) has a private veranda, and guests can relax in the infinity pool or enjoy game viewing from the water-facing boma, with wildlife frequently visiting the tranquil lagoon below. The 1.7 km long lagoon attracts a diverse array of wildlife such as elephants, puku, impalas, warthogs, zebras, and hartebeests. Predators like lions, cheetahs, leopards, hyenas, and even African wild dogs are also occasional visitors.
Twice-daily game drives offer excellent wildlife viewing opportunities and early morning walking safaris are available from June to November.

Busanga Plains Camp
After our game-viewing activity and breakfast on the morning of Day 5, we head north to the Busanga Plains, the crown jewel of Kafue National Park. This vast and diverse landscape in Northern Kafue is nourished by the Lufupa River, which flows into the Busanga Swamp.
During the rainy season, the wide-open spaces flood, creating lush grazing grounds for a wide variety of wildlife once the waters recede. This high concentration of game attracts numerous predators, including lions, hyenas, wild dogs, side-striped jackals, caracals, servals, genets and more. For the following three days, we explore Busanga Plains' grassy seasonal floodplains on game drives and on foot. Walking safaris are particularly rewarding here, and very safe due to the vast openness of the plains.
Busanga Plains Camp has four spacious en-suite tents with private verandahs, with uninterrupted views over the floodplain, an elevated communal boma and dining area, a swimming pool and a raised wooden viewing deck.
