This is the day you arrive in this beautiful country. Our Likana Safaris staff will greet you at the airport and escort you to your hotel to relax and recover from your long jet lag. You will have dinner and stay overnight at the Chez Lando Hotel.
If you arrive early, you can visit the Presidential Museum, the residence of two former Rwandan Presidents, to learn about the country's political history. You will also drive through historic commercial and residential areas, with a significant stop at the Kigali Genocide Memorial Site, which commemorates the 1994 Rwandan Genocide.

Travel to Volcanoes National Park and Evening Ibyiwacu Cultural Experience
You will have breakfast and then drive northeast to the town of Musanze, near the Virunga Volcano range. Upon arrival, you'll transfer to Volcanoes National Park, located in northwestern Rwanda, bordering Virunga National Park in the Democratic Republic of Congo and Mgahinga Gorilla National Park in Uganda.
After reaching your accommodation, you can either rest and prepare for the next day's activities or choose to engage in an optional activity at an extra cost. Options include a twin excursion canoe trek or a visit to the cultural village to learn about traditional Rwandan culture. Otherwise, you can simply relax and enjoy the facilities.

Golden Monkey Tracking and Transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park
You'll wake up early for breakfast and head to the park headquarters in Kinigi by 7:00 am. There, you'll join other golden monkey trekkers and meet with the ranger guide for a briefing about the activity and the park. At 8:00 am, you'll be transferred to the trailhead just outside the park. As you begin your trek, you'll enjoy stunning views of the mountain scenery while searching for the golden monkeys.
These monkeys inhabit the bamboo forests near the park's edge, where the terrain is relatively flat and easy to navigate. You'll observe the monkeys as they feed, skillfully picking young bamboo leaves from the tops of the trees. They may also venture into nearby potato fields, a favorite spot for them.
After an incredible hour with the golden monkeys, you'll return to the trailhead and drive back to the lodge for lunch. Following lunch, you'll head to the border, and after clearing customs, you'll proceed to Bwindi.

Gorilla Tracking and Batwa Cultural Encounter in Bwindi Impenetrable National Park
Following breakfast and preparation with your packed lunch, you'll proceed to the park headquarters for a briefing led by park ranger guides to commence your gorilla trekking adventure. The trek can extend up to 4 hours or more, navigating through steep slopes and dense vegetation enveloped in mist as you search for the mountain gorillas. This active pursuit will eventually lead you to an encounter with one of the most sought-after creatures, the mountain gorillas. Spending one full hour in their presence, you'll observe their behavior and capture memorable photographs. Later, dinner and an overnight stay await you at Rushaga Gorilla Haven Lodge.
The excitement of observing these gentle yet endangered giants is truly unforgettable. Upon returning to the lodge, you can relax and rest after the demanding trek. Optionally, you may choose to visit the local Batwa community. Alternatively, you can continue to unwind at your leisure.

Journey to Queen Elizabeth National Park Through the Ishasha Sector to Spot Tree-Climbing Lions
During your journey from Bwindi, you'll pass through the Ishasha sector of Queen Elizabeth National Park, renowned for its population of tree-climbing lions. While sightings of these lions cannot be guaranteed, a detour to Ishasha is certainly worthwhile! Following the Ishasha game drive, you'll continue your journey to the Mweya Peninsula of Queen Elizabeth for a memorable boat cruise along the Kazinga Channel.
Kazinga Channel Boat Cruise:
If time permits, you'll embark on an afternoon wildlife viewing adventure aboard the Kazinga Channel boat cruise. Along the channel, you'll have the opportunity to observe crocodiles, buffaloes, elephants, and a diverse array of bird species. After the cruise, you'll return to the lodge for dinner and overnight accommodation.

Escorted Wildlife Excursion and River Safari at Queen Elizabeth National Park
You'll rise early for breakfast and then set out for a morning game drive across the Kasenyi plains, keeping a keen eye out for Cape buffaloes, herds of elephants, as well as lions and leopards (though they may be challenging to spot). After the game drive, you'll return to your accommodation for some relaxation time and lunch.
Following lunch, you'll embark on a 2-hour boat excursion along the Kazinga Channel, which links Lakes George and Edward. Along the journey, you'll be captivated by sightings of wildlife, including majestic hippos, elephants, and crocodiles, among others. The shores of the water will also provide opportunities to observe a variety of bird species. Finally, you'll return to the lodge for dinner and an overnight stay.

Chimpanzee Tracking at Kyambura Gorge and Transfer to Hoima
After having breakfast, you'll head out for chimpanzee tracking in the Kyambura Gorge. This gorge is inhabited by habituated chimpanzees, along with other primates like baboons and monkeys, as well as various bird species. You'll spend the first part of the day tracking chimpanzees in this area.
Following the tracking experience, you'll return to your accommodation to check out. To reduce the travel time from Queen Elizabeth National Park to Murchison Falls National Park, you'll take a transfer that includes an overnight stay in Hoima City, which is along the route to Murchison Falls.

Transfer to Murchison Falls National Park
You'll indulge in a leisurely breakfast at the hotel before beginning your journey to Murchison Falls National Park. The park boasts captivating attractions such as the thundering rapids of the Murchison Falls and the expansive plains of Uganda's largest national park, offering opportunities to spot lions, leopards, giraffes, hartebeest, buffalo, and elephants. Moreover, the abundance of hippos and Nile crocodiles in the area is sure to captivate you.
In the afternoon, around 2 or 3 pm, you'll have the chance to venture out for wildlife sightings until approximately 6:30/7 pm. Optionally, for an additional cost of $40, you may opt for a thrilling night game drive to experience the unique nocturnal activities of the wilderness.

Morning Safari Expedition and Afternoon River Cruise at Murchison Falls National Park
After breakfast, you'll set off for an early morning safari adventure across the vast plains of Uganda's largest national park, keeping an eye out for wildlife such as lions and leopards (although they may be elusive) among other species. Bird enthusiasts will also have ample opportunities to spot various bird species during the drive.
Following the safari, you'll return to your accommodation for some relaxation and lunch. In the afternoon, you'll embark on a boat excursion to the base of Murchison Falls, providing opportunities to observe more wildlife, including hippos, crocodiles, and numerous water birds.

Trek the Summit of Murchison Falls and Travel to Entebbe via Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary for Rhino Viewing
You will have breakfast and then drive to the top of the falls to truly appreciate the beauty and magnificence of the Murchison Falls. From the top, you will embark on a transfer (not so long) to Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary. Once in Ziwa, you will proceed for an hour of on-foot rhino tracking. From the rhino tracking, you will enjoy lunch and then continue with the drive to Kampala. Have dinner and an overnight.
