Uganda Gorilla Trekking Safari

You'll enjoy a VIP meet and greet and assistance through immigration on arrival. From here, you will be transferred from the international airport to your boutique hotel. This itinerary includes all meals and a soft drink during lunch and dinner.

The hotel is situated on a peninsula in Lake Victoria, just a short drive from the capital city of Uganda —Entebbe. Nestled in the leafy suburbs, it is a stylish boutique hotel, From the moment you arrive, you are warmly welcomed and cared for. The area is a good base from which to explore the surrounding area with our local Safari365 representative.

In the afternoon, depending on your time of arrival, you'll relax at the refreshing swimming pool or stroll around the gardens. In the evening, you will enjoy dinner with carefully planned menus that are paired with international wines.

Day 2

You'll start your day 2 of this Uganda Gorilla trekking safari with a delicious breakfast. Then your guide will collect you at 6:30 am for a transfer to the airport for a 7:00 am flight through to Kihihi Airstrip. The estimated time of arrival is 9:25 am. From here, you'll transfer to your 5* camp called Sanctuary Gorilla Forest Camp in the Bwindi forest, which is considered Africa’s oldest rainforest. This gorilla experience takes place among a rugged landscape of dense jungle, cascading waterfalls, sparkling mountain streams, deep valleys, and steep ridges. The untouched forest has been declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Upon arrival at the camp, you'll dine in the restaurant for lunch. In the afternoon, you'll partake in a Batwa cultural experience. This is a nature walk through the forest. You will visit a small village in the area. At the village, you can see the Batwa tribe who live in tree houses, a dance demonstration, how they make fire with sticks, and how they cook.

Day 3

After an early morning breakfast, you will be collected for the day's half-day gorilla trek. At 7:00 am there is a transfer in 4WD safari Land Cruisers to the park headquarters for a briefing at the ranger's station and a talk. From here, you'll start the gorilla trekking adventure in Bwindi. This can take anywhere from 30 minutes to 5-6 hours and a reasonable degree of fitness is required. Once you are near the gorillas, you have time to marvel at the sheer size of the last remaining mountain gorillas, which is an extraordinary feeling. Guides and porters, who have accompanied you throughout the journey, share stories and facts about the gorillas, enhancing your appreciation. As you emerge from the dense forest, having spent time observing the majestic mountain gorillas in their natural habitat, you will feel a mix of exhilaration and fulfillment.

You'll return around 1:00 pm in time for lunch and relax in the afternoon.

6:00 pm: Your dinner and overnight stay will be at the camp.

Day 4

You'll have a hearty breakfast and then join a hike to Munyaga River which takes about 3 hours to the end point of Buhoma Road via Bizinge Creek. This is a very scenic trail that ascends through the evergreen and montane marshes that intertwine across the forest floor. It is suitable for all fitness levels and allows you to get up close to the beauty of the forest. In the afternoon and evening, you'll enjoy a non-alcoholic or alcoholic beverage in the cozy bar. Then, you'll dine in the dining cottage that overlooks the rainforest.

Day 5

Entebbe International Airport

Entebbe International Airport

You'll wave goodbye to the friendly and professional staff at Sanctuary Gorilla Forest Camp before being transferred at 8:00 am back to Entebbe. The light aircraft flight departs at 9:45 am and lands at Entebbe at 11:25 am. In the afternoon, you'll take your international flight homeward bound or to the next location that you have booked with Safari365. The end of a gorilla trek in Uganda is a memorable and emotional experience.

8:00 am: Transfer to the airstrip for your flight back to Entebbe.
9:45 am: Flight departs Kihihi Airstrip-Entebbe.
