Batwa Trail - Lake Bunyonyi

Today is set apart for a special experience with the Batwa People as they relive their life while still in Mgahinga Forest. The Batwa People (also pejoratively referred to as pygmies) are small-bodied forest people who between 1990 & 1993 were evicted from Bwindi and Mgahinga Forests after the two game reserves were upgraded to National Parks. This full-day activity starts from the park headquarters with Batwa guides showing-case their former lives and practices in the forest. You will witness how they used to prepare for hunting, their deity inclinations, how they used to make fire, their fruits and herbs as well as their norms, values, and superstitions. The tour ends at the Sacred Garama Cave which used to be a hideout from enemies and a home to their legendary king. Batwa women make a performance with sorrowful echoes of their fading culture.
