1-Day Gauteng Private Birding Tour (North)

From the hotel pickup, the tour will depart to Pretoria, where several birding "hotspots" will be visited, before heading to the Rietvlei Nature Reserve, where more birding will take place. As Rietvlei is a nature reserve, there are opportunities for watching wildlife, from rhinos and ostriches to zebras and cheetah, and other animals such as wildebeest. Lunch will be had at Rietvlei. The tour can also proceed to other hotspots that include water birds, and some garden birds, before returning the client to the hotel. Local birdbook and binoculars are provided. Species that have been recorded include Hamerkop, Secretary Bird, six species of bee-eaters, three kinds of buzzards, Burchell's Coucal, nine species of cuckoos, seven types of eagle, loads of herons and storks, honeyguides, hornbills, kestrels, kingfishers, kites, korhaans, nightjars, owls, quail, rollers, scimitarbill, sunbirds, wagtails, warblers, waxbills, weavers and woodpeckers. The number of bird species totals 453.
