Let’s rise early to seize the day and relish the birdsong as we embark on our first morning game drive.

In addition to the prominent wildlife, the park is home to rare and unique species such as Grevy’s zebra, beisa oryx, and the reticulated giraffe – animals not commonly seen elsewhere.

Our journey will take us along the banks of the Ewaso Ngiro River, the lifeline of this arid park, offering the best vantage points for observing the wildlife that gathers here to quench their thirst.

Surprisingly, in this dry reserve, you’ll find a vibrant array of birdlife thriving among the forest and riverine vegetation. Keep an eye out for kingfishers, guinea fowls, egrets, falcons, and eagles.

Additionally, we may have the opportunity to observe the local Samburu tribes and their villages, gaining insight into their rich cultural heritage and traditional way of life.

We’ll embark on a final early morning game drive through Samburu, soaking in the last glimpses of its unique wildlife. Afterward, we’ll head to the cooler regions of Mt. Kenya and Laikipia.

Ol Pejeta is a remarkable destination, known for its incredible biodiversity. Here, you’ll encounter a wealth of predators and Africa’s iconic Big Five. The conservancy is also home to a dedicated rhino sanctuary, which safeguards over one hundred of these endangered species, providing a vital haven for their protection and conservation.

Additionally, Ol Pejeta hosts the Sweetwaters Chimpanzee Sanctuary, the only place in Kenya where you can observe these intelligent and playful animals in a safe and enriching environment. It offers a unique opportunity to witness the fascinating behavior and social interactions of chimpanzees.

This rich sanctuary offers opportunities to observe a variety of species, including impala, giraffe, baboon, jackal, and hyena. We’ll set out on an early morning drive in our 4x4, aiming to spot some of these remarkable animals in their natural habitat.

Following this, we’ll embark on a short drive to Aberdare National Park, where the upcountry landscape dramatically transforms into mountains, rainforest, and cool evening mists.

We’ll arrive in time for lunch and then proceed to your unique tree hotel. Spend a relaxing afternoon on your balcony, enjoying the panoramic views of the wildlife gathered at the nearby watering hole. Keep an eye out for antelope, elephants, buffalo, hyenas, bush pigs, and waterbuck as they come to quench their thirst.

It’s time to journey towards the Rift Valley lake region. En route to Lake Nakuru, we’ll pause at Nyahururu to witness the magnificent Thompson’s Falls, a stunning display of nature's power.

Our drive will take us through fertile farmlands as we navigate the dramatic landscapes of the Great Rift Valley escarpment.

Upon arriving at Lake Nakuru National Park, we’ll embark on a bird and game viewing drive. This picturesque reserve, with its verdant forests and acacia trees, offers a delightful contrast to the surrounding landscape.

Along the lakeshore, you may spot a few flamingos, alongside kingfishers, ostriches, and various raptors such as herons and eagles. The park also features a protected sanctuary for rhinos, and with any luck, we may encounter the rare Rothschild’s giraffe gracefully browsing among the trees.

The lake provides a stunning backdrop for an early morning game drive, allowing us to savor the beauty of this remarkable park.

Continuing our scenic journey through the Great Rift Valley, our next stop is Lake Bogoria National Reserve. This park is a geothermal wonderland, featuring hot springs and bubbling geysers surrounding an alkaline lake that attracts flamingos and other wildlife, such as kudu and antelope.

Next, we’ll head to Lake Naivasha, a freshwater lake surrounded by parks that offer numerous opportunities for spotting small game and a rich variety of birdlife.

At Lake Naivasha, you’ll have the unique opportunity to go bicycling in a national park. We’ll embark on a short bicycle safari to Hell’s Gate National Park, followed by a hike through its impressive gorges, where we’ll look out for grazing antelope, zebra, impala, and buffalo.

In the morning we’ll glide past dozing hippos as they awaken, and observe the vibrant birdlife flying overhead. We’ll embark on a short, guided walking safari to Crescent Island Game Sanctuary. This small park is teeming with grazing wildlife, including wildebeest, waterbuck, and gazelle, offering a peaceful and intimate wildlife experience.

Having experienced an array of stunning wildlife and landscapes this past week, it’s now time to set our sights on the highlight of our journey – the Masai Mara National Reserve, renowned as the jewel in the crown of Kenya’s wildlife parks.

We will arrive at the reserve in time for an afternoon game drive, the first of many in this iconic park. The Masai Mara boasts an exceptional ecosystem, supporting the highest concentration of wildlife in the region. As we embark on our game drive, we’ll have the opportunity to observe the Big Five and over 90 mammal species, immersing ourselves in one of the world’s most remarkable wildlife experiences.

We will traverse the savannahs, hills, and rivers of the Masai Mara, seeking out the park’s famous big game. Known for its frequent sightings of predators, the reserve offers excellent opportunities to observe lions, cheetahs, hyenas and a variety of bird species, including storks, kingfishers, and hornbills, thriving in this fertile ecosystem.

If you notice large groups of wildebeests and zebras moving through the reserve, you’re likely visiting during the Great Migration season, which runs from July through October. During this time, vast herds cross the Mara River in their relentless quest for food and water.

We’ll enjoy a picnic lunch by the Mara River, the iconic crossing point of the migration, where we can observe hippos and crocodiles in the muddy waters.

For a cultural experience, we offer an optional visit to a nearby Maasai village. This provides an opportunity to learn about the Maasai way of life and perhaps purchase colorful beaded souvenirs as a memento of your visit.

Let’s embark on one last early morning game drive to ensure we’ve seen all the wildlife on our checklist. As the sun rises over the savannah, we’ll savor the sights and sounds of the Masai Mara one final time.

After a hearty breakfast, we’ll continue to spot any remaining wildlife as we make our way out of the park, capturing a few more memories of this incredible landscape.

We’ll then set off on our journey back to Nairobi, relishing the scenic drive and reflecting on our extraordinary safari experiences. We will arrive in Nairobi for lunch before dropping off at the airport marking the end of tour.
