Kigali Transfer to Volcanoes National Park

Your tour guide with a 4X4 safari vehicle meets and greets you at your hotel in Kigali. You will visit the Kigali Genocide Museum to pay your last respects to victims of the 1994 Rwandan Genocide against Tutsi before leaving the lively capital. You will drive north-west through lush hills and bustling market towns for approximately 2.5 hours, to the stunning Volcanoes National Park—well known as the venue for Dian Fossey's pioneering studies of the mountain gorillas. Your overnight stay will be at Muhabura Hotel or similar.

Golden Monkey Volcanoes National Park, Rwanda - Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, Uganda

After an early breakfast, you will be transferred to Volcanoes National Park for a briefing before entering the forest to search for the bamboo-associated primates. Some consider this as the next best thing after gorilla trekking. You will be allowed one hour with these beautiful Albertine Rift endemics. After this activity, you will be transferred to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park in preparation for gorilla trekking. Dinner and your overnight stay are at the lodge.

Uganda Gorilla Trekking Tour Bwindi/Mgahinga Gorilla National Park

After an early breakfast, you will drive to the briefing point in the forest of Bwindi Impenetrable National Park to get to be enlightened about your adventure with the mountain gorillas. You are advised to carry enough drinking water and a lunch box. At a cost of 15 US dollars, you can get a potter to carry your bag and give you a hand in slippery or steep parts of the forest. After the briefing, you are distributed into groups of eight and led by a park ranger into the forest where you will spend one hour with the gentle giants. Rain gear is important considering that Bwindi is a tropical rainforest. After tracking, you will be transferred to Lake Bunyonyi, Africa’s most beautiful lake. While here, you could opt for a swim in the second deepest lake in Africa or explore the surrounding communities on foot.
