Day 1

Nairobi - Masai Mara National Reserve

Nairobi - Masai Mara National Reserve

This budget safari adventure explores the best Kenyan national parks and a Great Rift Valley lakes trip. It starts from Nairobi with a pick-up from the airport or your hotel by 08h00. We will drive along the floor of the Great Rift Valley, stopping at the viewpoint to take some photos and learn about its formation. We will have lunch en route. We'll arrive in the Masai Mara in time for an extensive game drive exploring the park.

The world-renowned Masai Mara, highly known for its rich game, forms the northern extension of the famous Serengeti plains. These plains are full of countless wildebeest, zebra, and water buffalo. Elephant, giraffe, warthog, lion, cheetah, hyena, and jackal are also likely to be seen. The Mara’s numerous antelope species include hartebeest and topi, among others. The white-browned robin chat’s lovely song will wake you in the morning and call you to your room in the evening. Dinner and overnight are at Miti Mingi Eco Camp.

Masai Mara National Reserve Exploration

We spend these 2 days exploring the Masai Mara in search of the Big 5 with the possibility of seeing the annual wildebeest migration. This budget trip includes an optional hot-air balloon safari, which can be arranged at an extra cost of US$ 500 pp.

Dinner and your overnight stay are at the Miti Mingi Eco Camp.

The Mara offers wildlife in such variety and abundance that it is difficult to believe; over 450 species of animals have been recorded here. You will easily see lions, rhinos, hippos, crocodiles, giraffes, wildebeests, zebras, buffalo, warthogs, hyenas, wild dogs, buffalos, leopards, many kinds of antelopes and elephants. It is in the Mara that perhaps the most spectacular event of the natural world takes place. This is the annual migration of millions of wildebeest and zebra from the Serengeti in search of water and pasture. Following on their heels are the predators of the savanna - lion, cheetah, wild dog, jackal, hyena and vulture.

Masai Mara - Lake Nakuru National Park

Soon after breakfast, we will set off and drive to Lake Nakuru National Park, arriving in good time for lunch. In this park, you will proceed for extensive game viewing in search of cats (acacia trees are the leopard's favorite). We will also search for rhinos. Nakuru is home to white rhinos and has many black rhinos, too.

Lake Nakuru National Park is known for its millions of flamingos and other waterbirds like pelicans and cormorants. No wonder America’s finest photographer, Roger Tory Petersen, described it as the best photographic paradise in the world for its seasonally large concentrations of greater and lesser flamingos. Lake Nakuru boasts some 600 bird species. It is also a designated rhino sanctuary and home to other rare wildlife species.

Dinner and your overnight stay are at the Hotel CityMax.

Lake Nakuru National Park - Amboseli National Park

In the early morning, we will head out for a game drive. The journey continues to Amboseli National Park, which is one of the most popular wildlife sanctuaries in Kenya. It is situated close to the Kenya-Tanzania border.

The park lies at the foot of Mount Kilimanjaro, the highest mountain in Africa (5,896m), whose snow-capped summit presents a splendid view on clear days. Amboseli is often referred to as “the home of elephants,” and some of the largest elephant herds are found here.

The park also contains vast groups of zebras, wildebeests, giraffes, buffalos, hippos, and antelopes. Also found in Amboseli are lions, leopards, cheetahs, rhinos, and many species of plains game through thousands of meters of volcanic rock from Mount Kilimanjaro.

Animals seen here include elephant, zebra, wildebeest, giraffe, impala, and leopard. The birdlife includes pelican, bee-eater, kingfisher, African fish eagle, and pygmy falcon.

The rest of the evening will be spent at Kimana Amboseli Camp.

Have breakfast and then proceed for a full-day game drive. On this day, you will have a packed lunch to maximize your game drive for the whole day.

Amboseli National Park is located at the foot of Mount Kilimanjaro, Africa’s highest mountain. This creates Kenya’s most sought-after photographer’s paradise. Mount Kilimanjaro is the backdrop of this elephant haven, and you will not be disappointed by this first-class safari experience.

You will be able to get up close and personal with these African icons (and a host of other wildlife species) from the safety of your pop-up canopy safari vehicle.
