Day 2

Tsavo West National Park

Tsavo West National Park

This safari day begins early so we can emerge into the morning light along with our wildlife friends. As they hunt for breakfast, we'll "hunt" for them on our first game drive of the day. Later, you'll visit one of the park's more unusual spots, Mzima Springs, a verdant oasis fed by millions of gallons of crystal-clear water. We'll be able to explore on foot along the raffia-shaded shores and find close-up views of hippos, crocodiles, colorful fish, and migratory birds.

This place is a respite for the park's thirsty animals, so you may also find monkeys, baboons and others frequenting this nourishing spot. Later, we head back to the lodge for lunch and spend the rest of the day enjoying the hotel's facilities. Dinner and overnight are at Salt Lick Safari Lodge.

Tsavo West to Amboseli National Park

After an early breakfast, we check out of Salt Lick Safari Lodge and proceed to Amboseli National Park, a short 2-hour drive. Mount Kilimanjaro should be visible. The great summit stands at the park’s southern vista and is a welcoming landmark seen throughout the reserve. You’ll take an easy game drive in this park known for its immense herds of elephants as we head to Amboseli Sopa Lodge for check-in and lunch.

The park is also known for its easy animal spotting and is possibly the best spot in Africa to view these noble giants, with guaranteed sightings! Toward evening, the clouds surrounding Kilimanjaro’s peak may part, revealing its snowy summit. This is a perfect moment for photographs and a time to appreciate all the wonder that surrounds us. Later, we head back to the lodge for dinner and overnight.
