From a distance, on a clear day, you can take in views of the highest mountain in Africa, the snow-capped Mount Kilimanjaro, with its impressive Uhuru Peak soaring to 19,341 feet. Arrive at your lodge set beneath acacia trees in the shadow of Kilimanjaro. After lunch, explore the acacia woodland, freshwater swamps, scrub brush, and open plains in search of wildlife. Enjoy your day on early morning and afternoon game drives, crisscrossing the landscape in search of elephants, zebras, and wildebeests along the saltpan trails. This day after breakfast drive to Lake Naivasha via Nairobi. Arrive late in the afternoon for a boat trip. This tour takes you for a boat ride where you might spot many species of birds and water animals e.g. hippos and have good pictures of them. Dinner and overnight stay will be at your lodge.

This morning drive to Lake Nakuru National Park. Arrive in Nakuru on time for a hot lunch then have an afternoon game drive. It was known for its flamingos but years back the water level rose and the flamingoes migrated to Lake Baringo and Bogoria. Lake Nakuru is also a rhino sanctuary, harboring a population of over 40 black and over 60 white rhinos. Dinner and your overnight stay are at the lodge.

Day 5

Drive to Masai Mara National Reserve

Drive to Masai Mara National Reserve

After breakfast drive to Masai Mara leaving the lakes area behind; begin your ascent up over the top of the Mau Escarpment. Then, heading south, you travel towards Narok, the gateway to the Masai Mara and the district headquarters of this part of Maasailand. You’ll travel across the “breadbasket” of Kenya, covered with acres of wheat and barley, before you reach your lunchtime destination. After lunch, proceed for a game drive. Masai Mara is a magnificent landscape of open plains bisected by the Mara River and its tributaries, and punctuated by marshes and forests. Certainly the most frequented game reserve in Kenya, this 650 sq kilometer reserve supports the highest density of game to be seen anywhere. The reserve is home to all the “big five” and it is also possible to observe; baboon, eland, ostrich, bat-eared fox, jackal, and cheetah. The rivers abound with hippos and crocodiles.

Set out for an early morning game drive in the reserve. This is usually the most popular game viewing time. During the early hours temperatures are low, thus providing a favorable atmosphere for the game. Lions, Cheetahs, and Leopard roam the vast grasslands in search of their next meal, it may be an unsuspecting impala or even a small one like the warthog…whatever the players, the spectacle of nature unfolding is always awe-inspiring! Return to the lodge for breakfast. Mid-morning at leisure. Lunch at the lodge. An afternoon game drive will follow returning for dinner and overnight.
