Gorilla Trekking – An Experience with Gentle Giants

Today is the highlight of your trip – an unforgettable gorilla trekking adventure in Bwindi Impenetrable Forest. After an early breakfast, you’ll head to the park headquarters for a briefing from the experienced park rangers. Armed with essential information and guidelines, you’ll embark on a trek through the dense jungle, navigating through thick vegetation and rugged terrain. The trek can be challenging, but the anticipation of encountering mountain gorillas keeps your spirits high.

This gorilla trekking can be anywhere between 2-7 hours, depending on where this family of gentle giants has settled to since the day before. Watching these majestic creatures interact, feed, and play is a profoundly moving experience that words can hardly capture. You’ll spend a magical hour observing them, before trekking back to the park headquarters. In the afternoon, you’ll have the chance to explore the local community on a guided walk, before returning to your lodge for dinner.

Scenic Drive to Kibale-Journey to Uganda's Heartland

After a hearty breakfast, bid farewell to Bwindi as you embark on a scenic drive to Kibale National Park. This journey takes you through the heart of Uganda’s countryside, offering breathtaking views of rolling hills, verdant tea plantations, and vibrant local communities. As you drive through Fort Portal, the legendary Rwenzori Mountains come into view, adding a majestic backdrop to your journey. These “Mountains of the Moon” are shrouded in mist and offer stunning photo opportunities along the way.

Upon arrival in Kibale, you’ll check into your lodge and be greeted with a delicious lunch. In the afternoon, you’ll head out for a walking safari in the Bigodi Wetlands Sanctuary. This unique wetland area is known for its rich biodiversity and offers excellent bird-watching opportunities. Return to your lodge in the evening, where a delightful dinner awaits, and relax in the tranquil surroundings.

Today, prepare for an exhilarating day of chimpanzee trekking in Kibale National Park. After a nourishing breakfast, you’ll be guided into the forest to track down one of the three distinct communities of chimpanzees that inhabit the park. The thrill of hearing the calls of the chimpanzees echo through the forest as you approach is indescribable. Watching the chimpanzees in their natural environment as they socialize, feed, and play is a truly captivating experience. Your expert guide will share fascinating insights into the behavior and social structure of these intelligent creatures. After an exhilarating morning, return to your lodge for a relaxing lunch.

In the afternoon you’ll be transferred back to the airstrip for transfer back to Entebber, where you will then be transferred to the hotel of your choice or the international airport.
