Arrival in Arusha

Upon arrival at the airport (Kilimanjaro International Airport or Arusha Airport), you will be met by a Habitat Adventures Travel representative. You will then drive to your accommodation in Arusha for an overnight stay, waiting for your adventures to start the following day.

Arusha to Ndutu Region in Ngorongoro Conservation Area

After breakfast, we head towards the far south of the Serengeti National Park, known as the Ndutu area.

Lake Ndutu, situated in the Ngorongoro Conservation Area, is part of the southern Serengeti ecosystem. Lake Ndutu is alkaline, like most of the other Rift lakes; however, the water is still drinkable and used by a wide array of local wildlife. The wildebeest migration is usually found on the short-grass plains from December to April. The area is usually heavily populated with elephants, birds, and resident game. The Ndutu region forms part of the Northern section of the Ngorongoro Conservation Area. It stretches to the unfenced southern reaches of the Serengeti National Park, a meeting point between these incredible wilderness areas. After lunch and an extensive game drive, head to your accommodation for dinner and an overnight stay.

Ndutu to Ngorongoro Crater to Karatu

Today, after a delicious breakfast, you will depart early for Ngorongoro Crater with an en-route game drive. The Ngorongoro Crater is a breathtakingly beautiful setting and the best place in East Africa to see the Big Five. It is one of the most beautiful natural wildlife safari sites in the world and an exceptional place to interact with people from the Maasai community.

On reaching the crater’s edge, the 20km diameter caldera opens up before you in all its stunning glory, and you will descend into the crater on an adventurous trail. This World Heritage Site is seasonally home to over 25,000 animals, including a wide range of bird species, hyenas and the endangered black rhinos. A hot lunch will be served at a picnic spot at the hippo pool, and after that, you will continue to explore the crater. After exploration, you will ascend the crater and drive to your accommodation in Karatu for dinner and an overnight stay.

Tarangire National Park to Arusha to Zanzibar

Early in the morning, after breakfast, we depart for Tarangire National Park, named after the Tarangire River, which runs through it. This "river of warthogs" is the only source of water for wildlife in the region during the Dry season. The vegetation is quite dense in some places, including elephant grass, acacia woodlands, and lush groundwater forests. The park is well known for its elephant families, which can often be seen congregating by the river. You may also see giraffe, bushbuck and hartebeest. These animals are closely followed by a range of predators, including lions and leopards. There are more breeding species of birds found in Tarangire National Park than anywhere else on the planet!

After lunch and an extensive game drive, we head back to Arusha and catch your flight to Zanzibar.
