After landing in Johannesburg, a domestic flight takes you to Skukuza Airport, close to Arathusa. Flights to these airports are relatively short (between 1 and 1.5 hours) and provide stunning aerial views of the South African landscape. Upon arrival, a shuttle or transfer service will take you to Arathusa Game Lodge. The drive from this airport to the lodge will allow you to look around and spot some animals.
Check in when arriving at Arathusa Game Lodge. Enjoy a light lunch at the lodge or a nearby dining spot if you arrive early and settle into your accommodation. Take some time to explore the lodge’s surroundings or relax by the lodge’s waterhole, which often attracts wildlife.
Join the lodge’s sunset game drive. This is a great way to kick off your safari adventure and witness the bush come alive at dusk. On your return, you will enjoy dinner at the lodge - this can be a special bush-dining experience.

Experience a great sunrise and begin your day with an early morning game drive. The sunrise is a prime time for spotting wildlife as predators and prey are more active. Return to the lodge for a hearty breakfast.
You can participate in a lodge-provided educational session or workshop. Learn about the local ecosystem, wildlife tracking, or conservation efforts. Enjoy lunch at the lodge, which may feature a variety of local dishes.
In the afternoon, relax or take a bush walk (if available). Bush walks offer a closer look at the smaller aspects of the ecosystem, including flora and insects. You can also use this time to refine your wildlife photography skills or review your shots from the morning drive.
Join another evening game drive to explore different areas of the reserve. This drive often includes opportunities to spot nocturnal wildlife. Savor another meal at the lodge. Consider trying a bush dinner for a unique dining experience.
