You'll be picked up from your hotel in Arusha at around 7:30 am and drive to Lake Manyara National Park. The park has a massive but shallow soda lake located at the foot of the Great Rift Valley’s western escarpment. The varied habitat attracts a wide variety of animals, including one of Africa’s largest concentrations of elephants, Manyara’s unique tree-climbing lions, as well as large flocks of flamingos. Manyara is a scenic gem, with a setting extolled by Ernest Hemingway as “the loveliest I had seen in Africa”. From the entrance gate, along the roadside, blue monkeys scamper nimbly between the ancient mahogany trees, dainty bushbuck tread warily through the shadows and out-sized forest hornbills honk cacophonous in the high canopy. After the game drives, you will drive to the campsite for an overnight stay. Meal Plan: L, D.
