Ngorongoro Crater
The Ngorongoro Conservation Area, located in northern Tanzania, is a UNESCO World Heritage Site renowned for its stunning landscapes and abundant wildlife. At the heart of the area lies the Ngorongoro Crater, the world's largest inactive, intact, and unfilled volcanic caldera, often referred to as the "Eighth Wonder of the World." The crater spans about 20 kilometers in width and is approximately 610 meters deep.
Ngorongoro Crater is home to a remarkable concentration of wildlife, making it one of the best places in Africa to see the "Big Five"—lion, leopard, elephant, rhinoceros, and buffalo—in their natural habitat. The crater's varied ecosystems, including open grasslands, acacia forests, and swamps, support a wide variety of species. Beyond the Big Five, visitors can expect to see wildebeests, zebras, gazelles, hippos, and over 500 species of birds, including flamingos that flock to the soda lake.
