Serengeti National Park is well known for its healthy stock of resident wildlife, particularly the Big Five, named for the 5 most prized trophies taken by hunters. The Serengeti is believed to hold the largest population of lions in Africa due in part to the abundance of prey species. More than 3,000 lions live in this ecosystem. Day 4

Northern Serengeti National Park

Northern Serengeti National Park

Have an early breakfast then drive to Serengeti with game viewing en-route. Serengeti is undoubtedly the best-known wildlife sanctuary in the world, unequalled for its natural beauty and scientific value. It has the greatest concentration of plains game in Africa.

It is the migration for which Serengeti is perhaps most famous. Over a million wildebeest and about 200,000 zebras flow south from the northern hills to the southern plains for the short rains every October and November, then swirl west and north after the long rains in April, May and June. So strong is the ancient instinct to move that no drought, gorge, or crocodile-infested river can hold them back. Serengeti is home to the legendary great wildebeest migration. The park is rich with wildlife, endless plains, and sunrises and sunsets that make the heart go wild.

A packed lunch will be served at a picnic site. Late in the afternoon, drive to your accommodation for dinner and your overnight stay at Lemala Kuria.

Late in the afternoon, drive to the camp in Ngorongoro for dinner and your overnight stay.

"The only living things which look as if they really belong are wild animals. Between the animals and Africa, there is an understanding that human beings have not yet earned", Laurens van der Post, Venture to the Interior, 1963.
