Lake Eyasi
Today, you will have the opportunity to immerse yourself in the rich culture of the Hadzabe and Datoga people at Lake Eyasi.
Lake Eyasi is home to the Hadzabe, East Africa's last remaining authentic hunter-gatherers. They rely on their remarkable hunting skills, using bows and arrows to hunt animals such as antelopes, gazelles, birds, and mongooses. Along with hunting, they gather fruits, roots, and honey from the ancient baobab trees. The Hadzabe live a simple life, possessing only what is essential for survival, such as bows, arrows, and a few cooking pots. The Datoga community, known for their blacksmithing skills, expertly crafts the arrows used by the Hadzabe.
The Datoga people are skilled artisans who collect scrap metal and transform it into bracelets, arrowheads, and knives. These items are then traded with the Hadzabe for food. After this captivating cultural experience, you'll spend the night at Fig Tree Lodge.
