With approximately 3,000 lions inhabiting the Serengeti ecosystem, these majestic creatures are relatively easy to spot, not just due to their numbers but because they often spend up to 20 hours a day lounging under trees. Once a volcanic caldera, the crater now boasts a landscape of grassland, forest, and swamp, all set against a backdrop of breathtaking beauty. The permanent water on the crater floor sustains a resident population of over 25,000 large mammals, including leopards, lions, black rhinos, hyenas, zebras, waterbucks, baboons, and many others.
