Day 1

We will pick you up from your hotel in Moshi and drive to the Lemosho Gate for registration and entrance permits. From there, we’ll continue with a one-hour drive to the Lemosho starting point.
Upon arrival, you’ll enjoy a picnic lunch and meet the entire crew, including guides, cooks, and porters.
The hike begins with a trek through the rainforest, covering 7 km in 2 to 3 hours to reach Mti Mkubwa Camp. During the hike, you’ll experience diverse flora, such as Impatiens Kilimanjaro, and may spot black and white Colobus monkeys and other forest wildlife.

Day 2
Mti Mkubwa Camp to Shira II C amp

You will start the day with one of the longest hikes of your trek. The first session will be a 3 to 4-hour walk covering 7 km to reach Shira 1 Camp. After a lunch break, you'll continue with a 4 to 5-hour hike, covering an additional 9 km.
During this leg of the journey, you'll traverse the Shira Plateau, a UNESCO World Heritage site, and pass through the moorland zone. You will then arrive at your beautiful overnight camp, situated at the base of a massive lava flow.

Day 3
Shira II Camp to Barranco Camp

You will traverse the Alpine Desert on a 9 km hike, which will take approximately 6 to 8 hours. The day begins with navigating steep hills and sparse rocks, followed by a steady uphill climb.
You will reach the Lava Tower at 4,600 meters, a 150-meter-high volcanic plug located just outside the main mountain. Lunch will be served around noon, though some may experience mild headaches due to altitude changes.
Afterward, you'll descend for about two hours through a trail of dust and rocks to reach your overnight rest stop at Barranco Camp.

Day 4
Barranco Camp to Barafu Camp

After breakfast, you will depart from Barranco and ascend a steep ridge, passing the Barranco Wall en route to Karanga Valley Campsite.
Upon arrival at Karanga, you will have lunch and take a few minutes to acclimatize before continuing to Barafu Camp. At Barafu Camp, you will reach the culmination of the South Circuit, offering diverse views of the summit.
You will set up camp, rest, enjoy dinner, and prepare for the summit day. From Barafu Camp, you will have clear views of both Mawenzi and Kibo peaks.
Today, you will cover a distance of 9 kilometers over 8 to 10 hours, entering the alpine desert.

Day 5
Barafu Camp to Summit to Mweka Camp
Barafu Camp to Summit to Mweka Camp
You will wake around 11:00 pm, prepare with tea and snacks, and dress warmly for the summit. The ascent begins at midnight, navigating steep rocks for two to three hours.
You will then progress through a zigzag path to reach the crater rim and Stella Point (5,756 meters) by 6:00 am. At Stella Point, you will meet climbers from other routes before continuing to Uhuru Peak, which is about one hour away.
You may witness the sunrise at Stella Point, on the way to Uhuru, or at Uhuru Peak (5,895 meters), where you will spend 10 to 15 minutes taking pictures and enjoying the views.
Afterwards, you will descend to Barafu Campsite for a restful brunch and then continue down to Mweka Camp. The day includes a 5 km ascent and a 12 km descent, with hiking times of 7 to 8 hours for the ascent and 4 to 6 hours for the descent to Mweka Hut at 3,100 meters.

Day 6
Mweka Camp to Mweka Gate
Mweka Camp to Mweka Gate
After breakfast, you will descend to the Mweka Gate (1,640 meters) to collect your summit certificates, navigating potentially wet and muddy lower elevations. Equip yourself with gaiters and trekking poles, and wear shorts and a t-shirt, but keep rain gear and warmer clothing handy.
You will cover a 10 km descent over 3 to 4 hours through lush rainforest. Upon reaching the Mweka Gate, a vehicle will be ready to transport you back to your hotel in Moshi.
You can then enjoy a well-deserved hot shower and perhaps celebrate with a beer to conclude your trek.
