Tarangire to Serengeti

Tarangire to Serengeti

After an early breakfast, depart towards the most famous national park in the world, the Serengeti. The driving itself, although long, is spectacular. This will be an unforgettable moment for anyone seeing it for the first time. As you progress well into the Serengeti, you will see why the name means, in the local language, "endless plains". The park has 6,900 sq miles (18,000 sq km), and for most of it, the plains will stretch to the horizon, defying your senses and perception of distances. It is the home of the great migration and to 2 million wildebeests, hundreds of thousands of zebras, and all kinds of antelopes. As for big cats and large predators, it's the place of choice to look out for lions, cheetahs, leopards, and hyenas. Many television scenes, like the famous river crossings, have been filmed in this park.

Main Destination:
Central Serengeti National Park
Best Time To Visit January to February and June to October (Different areas are best at different times)

Ndutu Area - Southern Serengeti

Breakfast at the camp is followed by a game drive in the Ndutu area, exploring the grassy plains and woodlands in the area. Track the massive herds of wildebeest and zebra, and witness the birth of new calves and trailing predators such as lion, cheetah and hyena on the hunt. During lunchtime, your driver will set and prepare the table for a full, hot meal (soup, bread rolls, main dish and a fruit salad) followed by a glass of wine or tea/coffee. After lunch, we continue the game drive and return to the camp in the evening for dinner and overnight.

The Serengeti is perhaps the most famous for its migration. Over a million wildebeest and about 200,000 zebra flow south from the northern hills to the southern plains for the short rains every October and November and then swirl west and north after the long rains in April, May and June.

This UNESCO World Heritage Site was formed millions of years ago with the massive explosion of a volcano once higher than Kilimanjaro. It is 610m deep and covers roughly 304 sq km. It has a dense animal population of approximately 25,000 ungulates. After a final game drive in Ndutu, you will drive to your accommodation on the crater rim for dinner and your overnight stay.

After lunch, continue with the game drive. In the late afternoon, drive back to Arusha for your drop-off at the airport.

The jewel in Ngorongoro's crown is a deep, volcanic crater, the largest unflooded and unbroken caldera in the world. About 20km across, 600m deep and 300 sq km in area, the Ngorongoro Crater is a breathtaking natural wonder.
