Tarangire National Park
Our Mesmerize Africa safari guide will pick you up from your accommodation after breakfast and drive you to Tarangire National Park, a journey of approximately two and a half hours on well-maintained tarmac roads. The park, named after the Tarangire River, serves as the only water source for wildlife in the region during the dry season, earning it the nickname 'river of warthogs.' Tarangire is renowned for its large elephant herds, often seen gathering near the river. You may also encounter giraffes, bushbucks, hartebeests, and a variety of predators such as lions and leopards. The park boasts the highest number of breeding bird species found anywhere on Earth. As you explore, you'll also marvel at the ancient Baobab trees, some of which are said to be over a thousand years old.
Lunch will be enjoyed at a scenic picnic site within the park. After an exciting day of game drives, you'll continue your journey to your accommodation in Karatu.

After breakfast, you'll journey into the cooler highlands of the Ngorongoro Conservation Area. As you approach the Ngorongoro Crater, you'll be greeted by a breathtaking view of what seems like a lost world. Formed two to three million years ago when a massive volcano erupted and collapsed upon itself, the Crater spans an area of 260 km². This unique geological wonder is not only a sight to behold but also a natural reserve that hosts one of the densest large mammal populations in Africa. As you descend into the Crater, you'll find yourself surrounded by herds of wildebeest, zebras, gazelles, and over 500 species of birds. The Crater also offers the best opportunity to spot the endangered black rhino in its natural habitat.
Following your exploration of the Crater, you'll continue through the Ngorongoro Conservation Area, heading towards the Serengeti and entering the park from the south.
