Upon arrival at Kilimanjaro International Airport, you will be picked up by a driver and transferred to Meru View Lodge for an overnight stay. If you arrive early, you have the option to relax at the lodge or explore the surrounding area with a short walk. In the late afternoon or evening, you will meet your mountain guide for a detailed briefing about the trek ahead and an equipment check to ensure you have everything needed for a successful climb. This is also a great opportunity to ask any last-minute questions and make any necessary preparations before your adventure begins.

Lemosho to Mti Mkubwa
After breakfast, you'll be picked up from Meru View Lodge and driven to Londorossi Gate for registration and permits, then continue to the Lemosho trailhead. From here, you'll begin your trek through the lush rainforest, keeping an eye out for Colobus monkeys and other wildlife. The hike today is around 6 to 7 kilometers and takes about 3 to 4 hours, leading you to Mti Mkubwa Camp (Big Tree Camp) at 2,800 meters (9,186 feet). Upon arrival, you can rest and explore the surroundings before enjoying dinner and settling in for the night.

Mti Mkubwa to Shira Camp 1
After breakfast at Mti Mkubwa Camp, you’ll continue your trek through the rainforest and into the moorlands, where the landscape opens up and vegetation becomes sparser. The trail ascends gradually, offering stunning views of Kilimanjaro's western slopes. The hike today covers approximately 8 to 10 kilometers and takes about 5 to 6 hours, leading you to Shira Camp 1 at 3,610 meters (11,847 feet). Upon arrival, you’ll have time to rest, explore the expansive Shira Plateau, and enjoy a meal before settling in for the night.
Shira Camp I to Shira Camp II
After breakfast at Shira Camp 1, you’ll embark on a trek to Shira Camp 2, a slightly higher altitude camp on the Shira Plateau. The hike is around 6 kilometers and takes about 4 to 5 hours, featuring gradual ascents and offering expansive views of the surrounding landscapes. You'll pass through alpine meadows and enjoy panoramic vistas of Kilimanjaro's glaciers and the vast plateau. Upon reaching Shira Camp 2 at 3,850 meters (12,631 feet), you’ll have time to rest and acclimatize. Enjoy a hearty dinner and prepare for the next day's adventure.

Shira Camp II to Barranco
After breakfast at Shira Camp 2, you’ll trek to Lava Tower, a dramatic volcanic formation at 4,630 meters (15,190 feet). The hike covers approximately 7 to 8 kilometers and takes about 4 to 5 hours, offering stunning views of Kilimanjaro's summit and the surrounding landscape. Following lunch near the Lava Tower, you’ll descend to Barranco Camp at 3,950 meters (12,959 feet) to aid in acclimatization. The descent to Barranco Camp takes about 2 to 3 hours. Once at camp, enjoy dinner and rest, preparing for the climb of the Great Barranco Wall the next day.

Barranco wall to Karanga Camp
After breakfast at Barranco Camp, you’ll tackle the Great Barranco Wall, a steep ascent that requires some light scrambling. The climb takes about 2 to 3 hours and offers stunning views of the surrounding valleys and glaciers. Once over the wall, you'll continue on a scenic ridge, passing through the Karanga Valley and arriving at Karanga Camp, located at 4,000 meters (13,123 feet). The trek today covers about 5 to 6 kilometers and takes approximately 4 to 5 hours. Enjoy a relaxing evening at camp with dinner, preparing for the final push towards the summit.

Karanga Camp to Barafu camp
After an early breakfast at Karanga Camp, you will make your way to Barafu Camp, your base camp for the summit attempt. The trek takes you through a challenging alpine desert with a steady uphill climb, covering about 4 to 5 kilometers and taking around 3 to 4 hours. Upon reaching Barafu Camp at 4,673 meters (15,331 feet), you'll have a hot lunch and then rest for the afternoon, conserving energy for the summit. After an early dinner, you'll get some sleep, preparing for the midnight departure for the final ascent to Uhuru Peak.
Summit Uhuru Peak
Shortly after midnight, you will begin the final ascent to Uhuru Peak, the summit of Mount Kilimanjaro. The trek is strenuous and will take you through the steep switchbacks up to Stella Point at 5,756 meters (18,885 feet), where you will rest briefly to witness the sunrise. From Stella Point, it’s a gradual climb of about 1 to 2 hours along the crater rim to reach Uhuru Peak at 5,895 meters (19,341 feet), the highest point in Africa. After celebrating your achievement and taking photos at the summit, you'll begin the descent back to Barafu Camp for a short rest and a hot meal. Afterward, you’ll continue descending to Mweka Camp at 3,110 meters (10,204 feet), where you’ll enjoy a final dinner on the mountain and a well-deserved rest after a long and challenging day.

Mweka Gate
After a hearty breakfast at Mweka Camp, you will complete your descent to Mweka Gate, where you'll finalize your trek and receive your summit certificates in recognition of your achievement. Celebrate with a special barbecue lunch with your climbing team and fellow trekkers, a moment to share stories and express gratitude for their support. Following the farewell to your team, you will transfer back to Meru View Lodge. Enjoy a relaxing evening at the lodge, reflecting on your incredible Kilimanjaro adventure before settling in for a restful night.

Departure
After a final breakfast at Meru View Lodge, you will prepare for your departure. Depending on your flight schedule, you may have some time to relax at the lodge or take a short walk around the gardens. When it's time, you will be transferred to the airport for your flight home or to your next destination, carrying with you unforgettable memories of your Kilimanjaro trek, safari adventures, and the warm hospitality experienced throughout your journey.
