Your safari starts with an early pick-up by our safari driver-guide from your Nairobi hotel or the airport. Your destination is Amboseli National Park. Set in rolling savannah scenery, it is dwarfed by the pink-tinged, snow-capped peak of Mount Kilimanjaro, the highest free-standing volcanic mountain in the world, topped by one-fifth of all the ice in Africa. Against this magnificent backdrop roam vast herds of "giant" elephants, accompanied by a kaleidoscope of other fabulous beasts such as lions, buffaloes, cheetahs, giraffes, baboons, gazelles, hippos, and wildebeests.

Amboseli National Park is also an ornithological paradise with over 400 species of birds, all manner of reptiles, flora, and fauna, and some of the most soul-searing views in Africa. Arrive at your accommodation for check-in and a delicious lunch. Enjoy an afternoon game-viewing drive searching for the big herds of elephants, among other animals. Later, return to your accommodation for dinner and an overnight stay.

Day 2

Amboseli National Park to Lake Naivasha

After an early breakfast, depart Amboseli National Park for a scenic 5-hour drive to Lake Naivasha, stopping to admire the Great Rift Valley. This geological wonder stretches over 7,000 kilometers, with the East African branch going from Ethiopia to Mozambique. It features volcanoes, hot springs, and diverse ecosystems. Arrive at Lake Naivasha Sopa Lodge for lunch and check-in.

In the afternoon, enjoy a boat ride on Lake Naivasha and a walking safari at Crescent Island, a private game sanctuary with abundant wildlife, including zebras, giraffes, and hippos. The sanctuary boasts more animals per acre than any other park in Kenya. You are certain to trek by diverse herds of wildlife; wildebeest, waterbuck, zebra, giraffe, and gazelle. Hippos are also known to graze all about the island, and you’re sure to spot pelicans, cormorants, and fish eagles. Return to your lodge for dinner and an overnight stay.

After breakfast at the lodge, head out to discover Lake Naivasha’s hidden treasure in Hell’s Gate National Park. Hire bikes and cycle to the park, where you can explore the canyon on foot or enjoy a nature hike, spotting small game along the way. Later, a 1-hour drive will take you to Lake Nakuru National Park. Birdlife abounds here, with thousands of flamingos, pelicans, and other bird species. The park is also home to black and white rhinos, warthogs, lions, zebras, giraffes, and more. Enjoy dinner and an overnight stay at the lodge.

After breakfast, depart for Kenya’s famous Masai Mara National Reserve, one of the few regions where visitors can see animals as abundant as a century ago. Arrive for a warm welcome and lunch at Mara Serena Safari Lodge. After lunch, embark on an afternoon game drive in this vast reserve teeming with wildlife. Look out for the "Big Five" (lion, Cape buffalo, savannah elephant, black rhino, and the elusive leopard). The savannah grasslands stretch as far as the eye can see. They are home to black-maned lions, cheetahs, Maasai giraffes, elephants, rhinos, zebras, migrating wildebeests, impalas, warthogs, Thomson's and Grant's gazelles, topis, waterbucks, and numerous other plains game. Return in the evening to freshen up before dinner and an overnight stay at the lodge.

Today, enjoy a full-day game drive at Kenya’s most famous park, the Masai Mara, with a picnic lunch. After a sumptuous breakfast, depart for a full-day adventure. Be on the lookout for the Big Five that the Masai Mara is famous for, which may have eluded you on previous game drives; lion, savannah (African) elephant, Cape buffalo, leopard, and black rhino. You might even witness a leopard or cheetah sprint and make a kill! Return to the lodge for dinner and an overnight stay.

Alternatively, you may choose to visit a Maasai village for a nominal fee to gain a firsthand understanding of the Maasai lifestyle. This offers a fascinating glimpse into their everyday lives, customs, and traditions, including cultural activities like the Maasai dances.
