You can experience everything from the woodlands and plains of South Luangwa to the water channels and lush vegetation of the Lower Zambezi. The diversity of scenery makes for beautiful backdrops during safaris and varied wildlife encounters.
Take a light aircraft flight from Lusaka to Mfuwe airstrip. From here a camp representative will greet you with a smile and transfer you to the camp for 3 nights. Nkwali Camp in Zambia is a beautiful and intimate safari lodge located on the banks of the Luangwa River, just outside South Luangwa National Park. The camp offers direct access to the park via a private pontoon or by boat during the wet season, giving guests exclusive and easy entry into the park for game drives and other activities. Nkwali Camp offers an intimate and exclusive safari experience with only six chalets. This small size ensures personalized service and attention to detail, as well as fewer guests on game drives, creating a more private and immersive safari adventure.

Enjoy a morning activity, breakfast and then a camp friendly staff member will do an inter-camp transfer to the next safari destination of Luangwa River Camp.
The camp is small, with only five luxury bush suites, providing a very intimate and exclusive atmosphere. With fewer guests, you’ll enjoy personalized service, attention to detail, and a more private safari experience, whether on game drives or at the lodge. The camp offers both day and night game drives, maximizing your chances to see a wide variety of wildlife. The night drives are particularly exciting, as they give you the opportunity to observe nocturnal animals like leopards, hyenas, and civets, which are rarely seen during the day.
Luangwa River Camp features a stunning split-level infinity pool that overlooks the Luangwa River. After a morning of exploring the bush, you can relax by the pool and enjoy breathtaking views of the river and wildlife coming to drink at the water’s edge.

Morning safaris generally start very early, around 5:30 to 6:00 AM, just before sunrise. This is the best time to spot wildlife, as many animals are more active during the cooler early hours of the day. You’ll be woken up with a hot cup of coffee or tea and a light breakfast before heading out. After the safari return for a delicious breakfast. Then take a light aircraft light to connect South Luangwa National Park (via Mfuwe Airport) to Lusaka, Zambia’s capital. The flight from Mfuwe to Lusaka typically takes around 1 hour and 30 minutes, making it a convenient option for travelers looking to head to Lusaka after a safari in South Luangwa.
