You'll start your morning with a guided gorge walk 230 meters down into the Batoka Gorge.
This trail will take you through the indigenous forest, culminating at the river’s edge, where you can feel the raw power of the Zambezi up close. After a moment to take in the scenery and catch your breath, the challenging ascent back to the lodge begins, rewarding you with a profound sense of achievement and panoramic views of the gorge.
The duration is 90 min (up and down). The reasonable fitness level required minimum age is 8 years old.
For those who are not keen on doing the gorge walk but still want to do some exercise, we offer shorter/‘gentler’ walking trails on the property ranging from 1.5km – 5km. There trails are a great opportunity to do some birding and to view the gorge from a different angle.
The local village is 5km from Taita Falcon Lodge. This walking tour includes a visit to the local clinic, and several homes and will end at the craft market. Duration: 1 – 1.5 hours.
