Here, you might spot the endangered black rhino and large prides of lions. The crater is renowned for its geological wonders and serves as a natural sanctuary, hosting some of the densest populations of large mammals on the African continent. As you drive down into the crater, you’ll encounter vast herds of wildebeest, zebra, and gazelle, alongside over 500 species of birds.

Serengeti National Park to Karatu

We’ll start our day with an early breakfast before setting off on an exciting game drive at around 6:30 AM. You’ll have 6 to 7 hours to explore the Serengeti, a park renowned for its incredible wildlife. This vast ecosystem is home to a diverse range of animals, including impalas, buffalo, crocodiles, and hippos. However, the Serengeti is most famous for its spectacular migration of zebras (approximately 250,000), wildebeest (around 1.5 million), and antelope (about 500,000). The migration pattern varies with the rainfall each year, offering a dynamic and ever-changing spectacle.
In addition to the migrating herds, you may encounter formidable predators such as leopards, cheetahs, and lions in their natural habitats.
At around 2:00 PM, we’ll drive back to Karatu, where you’ll check into our carefully selected mid-range lodge. Enjoy dinner at the lodge’s excellent restaurant, take a relaxing dip in the pool, and perhaps unwind with a digestif by the fire under the expansive African sky.

The lake’s seasonal flooding and drying attract thousands of flamingos and over 500 other bird species, making it a birdwatcher's paradise.

As we explore the park, you’ll have the chance to see a variety of wildlife, including monkeys, giraffes, zebras, wildebeests, buffalo, and elephants. With a bit of luck, you might even spot lions lounging on trees, a unique feature of this park.

Lake Manyara National Park is renowned for its diverse landscapes, ranging from open grassy plains to primate-filled woodlands and baobab-dotted cliffs.
