After an early breakfast, depart for a full day game drive at Tarangire National Park, including a picnic lunch. Tarangire is renowned for its impressive herds of up to 300 elephants, which scrape the waterless riverbeds in search of alternative water sources. The park is also home to large numbers of wildebeest, zebras, buffalo, impalas, gazelles, hartebeests, and elands that gather around diminishing lagoons. After breakfast, you will depart the lodge at 8:30 a.m. and head towards Lake Manyara National Park, bringing along a picnic hot lunch. Enjoy a full day of game driving before driving to Marera Valley for dinner and your overnight stay.
Stretching for 50 km along the base of the majestic 600-meter-high Rift Valley escarpment, Lake Manyara is a picturesque gem. Ernest Hemingway famously described it as “the loveliest I had seen in Africa.” The park’s compact game-viewing circuit offers a rich Tanzanian safari experience in miniature. From the entrance gate, the road meanders through lush, jungle-like groundwater forest, where you might see troops of baboons lounging casually along the roadside, blue monkeys darting between ancient mahogany trees, bushbucks cautiously navigating the undergrowth, and vibrant forest hornbills calling from the high canopy.
