After breakfast, you'll be picked up from Meru View Lodge and driven to Londorossi Gate for registration and permits, then continue to the Lemosho trailhead. From here, you'll begin your trek through the lush rainforest, keeping an eye out for Colobus monkeys and other wildlife. The hike today is around 6 to 7 kilometers and takes about 3 to 4 hours, leading you to Mti Mkubwa Camp (Big Tree Camp) at 2,800 meters (9,186 feet). Upon arrival, you can rest and explore the surroundings before enjoying dinner and settling in for the night.

Mti Mkubwa to Shira 2 Camp
After breakfast at Mti Mkubwa Camp, you’ll continue your trek through the lush rainforest, gradually transitioning into the moorlands where the landscape opens up and the vegetation becomes sparser. As you ascend, you'll be greeted with panoramic views of Kilimanjaro's western slopes. The trail steepens as you approach the Shira Plateau. Today’s hike covers approximately 16 kilometers and takes about 7 to 8 hours, leading you directly to Shira Camp 2 at 3,850 meters (12,631 feet). Upon arrival, you'll have time to rest, explore the vast Shira Plateau, and enjoy a well-deserved meal before settling in for the night.

Shira Camp 2 to Barranco
After breakfast at Shira Camp 2, you’ll trek to Lava Tower, a dramatic volcanic formation at 4,630 meters (15,190 feet). The hike covers approximately 7 to 8 kilometers and takes about 4 to 5 hours, offering stunning views of Kilimanjaro's summit and the surrounding landscape. Following lunch near the Lava Tower, you’ll descend to Barranco Camp at 3,950 meters (12,959 feet) to aid in acclimatization. The descent to Barranco Camp takes about 2 to 3 hours. Once at camp, enjoy dinner and rest, preparing for the climb of the Great Barranco Wall the next day.

Barranco wall to Karanga Camp
After breakfast at Barranco Camp, you’ll tackle the Great Barranco Wall, a steep ascent that requires some light scrambling. The climb takes about 2 to 3 hours and offers stunning views of the surrounding valleys and glaciers. Once over the wall, you'll continue on a scenic ridge, passing through the Karanga Valley and arriving at Karanga Camp, located at 4,000 meters (13,123 feet). The trek today covers about 5 to 6 kilometers and takes approximately 4 to 5 hours. Enjoy a relaxing evening at camp with dinner, preparing for the final push towards the summit.

Karanga Camp to Barafu Camp
After an early breakfast at Karanga Camp, you will make your way to Barafu Camp, your base camp for the summit attempt. The trek takes you through a challenging alpine desert with a steady uphill climb, covering about 4 to 5 kilometers and taking around 3 to 4 hours. Upon reaching Barafu Camp at 4,673 meters (15,331 feet), you'll have a hot lunch and then rest for the afternoon, conserving energy for the summit. After an early dinner, you'll get some sleep, preparing for the midnight departure for the final ascent to Uhuru Peak.
Summit Uhuru Peak
Shortly after midnight, you will begin the final ascent to Uhuru Peak, the summit of Mount Kilimanjaro. The trek is strenuous and will take you through the steep switchbacks up to Stella Point at 5,756 meters (18,885 feet), where you will rest briefly to witness the sunrise. From Stella Point, it’s a gradual climb of about 1 to 2 hours along the crater rim to reach Uhuru Peak at 5,895 meters (19,341 feet), the highest point in Africa. After celebrating your achievement and taking photos at the summit, you'll begin the descent back to Barafu Camp for a short rest and a hot meal. Afterward, you’ll continue descending to Mweka Camp at 3,110 meters (10,204 feet), where you’ll enjoy a final dinner on the mountain and a well-deserved rest after a long and challenging day.

Final Mweka Gate
After a hearty breakfast at Mweka Camp, you will complete your descent to Mweka Gate, where you'll finalize your trek and receive your summit certificates in recognition of your achievement. Celebrate with a special barbecue lunch with your climbing team and fellow trekkers, a moment to share stories and express gratitude for their support. Following the farewell to your team, you will transferred to your destination either airport or accommodation, depending on your schedule. Please not this tour doesn't include accommodation on arrival and departure date or any transfers from the airport. These can be arranged for an extra cost on client request.
