Hidden within its steep volcanic walls is an untouched wilderness of sweeping savannah, acacia woodlands, and shimmering lakes. Formed by a volcanic eruption over two million years ago, the crater spans 260 km² and is renowned both for its dramatic landscape and as a haven for some of Africa’s densest populations of large mammals.

Descending into the Crater, you'll find yourself amidst vast herds of wildebeest, zebras, and gazelles, as well as more than 500 species of birds. The Crater is also one of the best places to spot the endangered black rhino.

Serengeti National Park to Karatu

The Serengeti is nothing short of breathtaking, renowned for its vast open grasslands that provide unparalleled opportunities for wildlife viewing. Its climate and vegetation have remained virtually unchanged for millions of years, creating a timeless wilderness. While the Serengeti is home to an abundance of wildlife, it’s perhaps most famous for the annual Great Migration, where immense herds of wildebeest, zebras, and antelope traverse the plains in search of fresh grazing. The migration occurs year-round, but the key is knowing where to find it during each season.

Beyond the migration, the Serengeti offers incredible chances to spot predators such as lions, cheetahs, and leopards, making it a truly life-changing experience. In the afternoon, you’ll begin your journey back to Karatu, with the possibility of even more wildlife encounters along the way.

Lake Manyara to Arusha

Lake Manyara to Arusha

After breakfast, you’ll head to Lake Manyara National Park, a small yet incredibly diverse park located 120 km west of Arusha. This park is unique in its scale—while compact, it feels vast, with the towering Great Rift Escarpment forming a dramatic backdrop to the shimmering Lake Manyara. The shallow, saltwater lake dominates much of the park, attracting thousands of wading birds, including flamingos and over 500 other bird species. As you explore, you may encounter baboons and elephants in the dense evergreen forest, and if you're lucky, spot the famous tree-climbing lions.

After a picnic lunch in the park and an exciting game drive, you’ll bid farewell to your guide. You'll be dropped off at a location of your choosing—whether Arusha, Kilimanjaro Airport, or Arusha Airport. We hope your adventure with Sereland Africa Safari has been unforgettable!
