This drive takes approximately two and a half hours on well-maintained tarmac roads. The park is named after the Tarangire River, which runs through it. This river is the sole source of water for wildlife in the region during the dry season. Tarangire is also renowned for its large herds of elephants, which you may see meandering through the bush. During the dry season, you might observe them congregating at the river to drink or cool off from the sun.

In addition to elephants, Tarangire is a paradise for bird enthusiasts, featuring species such as Ostrich, parrots, hornbills, lovebirds, kori bustards, eagles and vultures. Lunch will be served at a picnic site within the park.

Karatu-Ngorongoro Crater-Serengeti National Park

After breakfast, you'll journey into the cooler regions of the Ngorongoro Conservation Area (NCA), which spans over 8,000 square kilometers. This vast area includes key landmarks such as the Ngorongoro Crater, Ndutu, Olduvai Gorge, Empakai and Olmoti Craters and the majestic Ol Doinyo Lengai Mountain.

Around three million years ago, a massive volcano believed to have been larger than Kilimanjaro erupted and collapsed, forming what is now one of the largest intact calderas in the world. This unique geological formation has created a diverse ecosystem with abundant habitats and potable water, supporting one of the densest populations of large mammals in Africa. The crater also offers one of the best opportunities to spot the endangered black rhino. At approximately 20 kilometers in diameter, the crater provides excellent wildlife viewing opportunities. After your crater tour, you'll continue your journey through the Ngorongoro Conservation Area, heading towards the Serengeti.

Central Serengeti-Karatu-Lake Manyara National Park

The Serengeti is nothing short of spectacular. Known for its vast open grasslands, it offers incredible wildlife viewing opportunities. Its climate and vegetation have remained largely untouched for millions of years, allowing the ecosystem to thrive. While the Serengeti is home to an abundance of wildlife, it is perhaps most famous for the Great Migration a breathtaking event where vast herds of wildebeest, zebra and antelope move in search of fresh grazing grounds.

The migration is a year-round phenomenon, but the key is knowing where to find it during each season. Alongside the migrating herds, you also have a great chance of spotting predators such as lions, cheetahs and leopards, making it a truly life changing experience.

In the afternoon, you'll begin your journey back to Karatu, with the opportunity to enjoy more of the Serengeti's wonders along the way.
